๐Ÿšจ Important update for UAE construction businesses on eInvoicing compliance

The UAE Ministry of Finance has announced targeted amendments to the ministerial decisions governing the eInvoicing system, including an extension of the deadline for appointing an Accredited Service Provider (ASP).

๐Ÿ“… New ASP appointment deadline: 30 October 2026
(previously 31 July 2026)

This update applies to businesses subject to the eInvoicing system with annual revenues exceeding AED 50 million and has been introduced through amendments to Ministerial Decision No. 244 of 2025.

The mandatory implementation timeline for eInvoicing remains unchanged.
For companies in the construction sector, this extension provides additional time to:

โœ”๏ธ Assess internal systems and ERP readiness
โœ”๏ธ Select the right Accredited Service Provider
โœ”๏ธ Prepare finance and procurement workflows for compliance
โœ”๏ธ Ensure a smooth transition ahead of the 2027 rollout

As the industry continues its digital transformation journey, early preparation remains essential to avoid operational disruptions and ensure compliance readiness.

We recently hosted a business breakfast in Dubai for construction leaders.

The focus was on one key question:
How to stay in control in uncertain times.

Industry executives came together to share their challenges, ideas, and practical approaches to managing:

๐Ÿ”นRising costs
๐Ÿ”นProject delays
๐Ÿ”นcash flow pressure

One of the key takeaways:

โ€œThe main thing is that information is very important. And the sooner you get it โ€” the betterโ€ฆ The sooner you get reports, the sooner you can take action.โ€
โ€” Mustafa Sharif, MD of MLSH Design and Build

Participants also highlighted the practical value of the session:

โ€œI really enjoyed the exercise that was done over here. I'm going to use it further.โ€
โ€” Murtaza Balasinour, GM of Buildmore Industries

And the importance of cash flow visibility:

โ€œCash is everything which makes a company move forward. If you burn the cash, definitely you have a problem.โ€
โ€” Pratheep John, GM of Penta Emirates

Thank you to everyone who joined us โ€” it was a great session with real discussions and useful insights.

๐Ÿ“ฉ We are already planning a similar closed, executive-level session for construction leaders in the UAE in about 2 weeks. Interested in joining? Send us a message.

๐Ÿ๏ธ Major milestone in ultra-luxury construction: AED 700 million main works contract awarded for Amali Island.

Amali Properties has awarded a AED 700 million contract to DUTCO Construction for the main works and interior fit-out of its landmark ultra-luxury Amali Island project on The World Islands in Dubai.

This contract represents a significant transition from marine and infrastructure groundwork to full-scale construction.

๐Ÿ”‘ Project highlights construction firms should know:

1๏ธโƒฃ Contract awarded to DUTCO Construction. Main works and fit-out valued at AED 700 million, leveraging DUTCOโ€™s extensive UAE portfolio.

2๏ธโƒฃ Ultra-luxury development. Amali Island is a AED 2 billion private island project featuring 24 waterfront villas with sail-in/sail-out living.

3๏ธโƒฃ Construction progress underway. Dredging, reclamation, and soil improvement are complete; marine, deep infrastructure, and utilities are over halfway finished.

4๏ธโƒฃ Exceptional design & quality. Villas designed by award-winning architects with premium amenities and bespoke finishes.

5๏ธโƒฃ Strategic partnership. The appointment builds on DUTCOโ€™s earlier marine works role, strengthening collaboration for delivery excellence.

๐Ÿ’ก What should construction companies do?

โœ”๏ธ Build strategic long-term partnerships. Projects of this scale reward trusted contractor-developer relationships; invest in quality delivery to secure follow-on phases.

โœ”๏ธ Expand ultra-luxury capabilities. High-end residential and bespoke fit-out expertise is increasingly in demand โ€” upskill teams accordingly.

โœ”๏ธ Focus on integrated delivery. Coordination between marine, infrastructure, and superstructure phases enhances schedule reliability and reduces risk.

โœ”๏ธ Strengthen quality & compliance regimes. Ultra-premium projects demand uncompromising standards โ€” robust QA/QC and documentation frameworks are essential.

โœ”๏ธ Leverage the UAEโ€™s prime project pipeline. Major developments like this underscore opportunities in luxury, mixed-use, and waterfront sectors โ€” position early to win work.

The award of the AED 700 million main works contract for Amali Island marks a pivotal step in one of Dubaiโ€™s most ambitious residential developments.

For construction firms, this highlights the value of proven delivery excellence, strong partnerships, and specialist capabilities in capturing premium sector opportunities.

โš ๏ธ Implementing an ERP system can feel overwhelming โ€” especially in construction. Workflows are complex, timelines are tight, and disruption is not an option.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ UAE property trends in 2026: flexibility, sustainability & premium living

The UAE real estate market is rapidly evolving โ€” not just in demand but also in how spaces are designed, built, and experienced. The trends below highlight a strong demand for adaptable environments, sustainability, and enhanced living experiences.

๐Ÿ“Œ Key trends reshaping the market:

๐Ÿข Flexible workspaces

Modern office design is evolving beyond fixed desks toward adaptable layouts that support hybrid work, well-being, and collaboration. Tenants now prioritize choice, technological infrastructure, and comfort over traditional footprint models.

๐ŸŒฑ Sustainability as a core requirement

Green construction and eco-friendly materials are increasingly becoming fundamental requirements rather than optional features in both commercial and residential projects.

๐Ÿก Premium residential properties

Property design increasingly incorporates technology โ€” from energy-efficient materials to smart infrastructure โ€” enhancing both value and performance.

๐ŸŽจ Integrated & human-centric design

Interior brands and designers are increasingly influential in creating emotionally engaging, narrative-driven spaces that extend beyond basic fit-outs.

๐Ÿ’ก Strategic advice for construction companies:

โœ… Build flexibility into projects. Equip teams and processes to deliver adaptable spaces that support hybrid work, multi-use areas, and evolving tenant needs.

โœ… Lead with sustainability. Adopt sustainable materials, waste management protocols, and energy-efficient design early in the delivery process to align with regulatory trends and client expectations.

โœ… Invest in technology & skills. Upskill your workforce in digital tools (BIM, smart build systems) and green construction technologies to improve efficiency and project outcomes.

โœ… Partner for integrated solutions. Collaborate with interior design firms, property developers, and tech providers to offer complete built-environment solutions โ€” from structure to experience.

โœ… Stay ahead of market demand. Monitor trends in workplace models, residential preferences, and sustainability certifications to position your firm as a leader in next-generation builds.

โœจ The UAEโ€™s real estate landscape is evolving fast โ€” success belongs to those who build spaces that adapt, sustain, and inspire.

๐Ÿšง UAE infrastructure momentum: 5 projects transforming everyday life

The UAE has unveiled a series of major infrastructure initiatives that will significantly enhance residentsโ€™ quality of life โ€” from ultra-fast travel links to smarter urban transport, improved roads, drainage systems, and public spaces.
These projects embody the nationโ€™s vision for a digitally connected, efficient, and livable future:

๐Ÿš„ 1. Rapid connect: Abu Dhabi โ†” Dubai in 30 minutes

A new high-speed rail line will connect the two largest emirates, reducing travel time to approximately 30 minutes, with trains reaching speeds of up to 350 km/h. This project is expected to contribute over AED 145 billion to the economy over the next five decades โ€” and make weekend plans much more spontaneous!

๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ 2. National highway improvements

The UAEโ€™s national road development program, valued at more than AED 170 billion, aims to improve federal highways, reduce congestion, and enhance connectivity between emirates โ€” so daily commutes and long drives are safer and faster.

๐Ÿ™๏ธ 3. New social and cultural spaces across the Emirates

In Abu Dhabi alone, public-private partnerships valued at Dh 22 billion are driving hundreds of new projects that will enhance cultural, civic, and leisure spaces throughout the city.

๐Ÿšง 4. Dubaiโ€™s redesigned roads and bridges

Strategic projects such as the Al Fay Street expansion and the new bridge access to the Dubai Islands are designed to eliminate bottlenecks and help you reach your destination more quickly.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ 5. Advanced drainage systems to prevent flooding

Dubaiโ€™s Tasreef stormwater drainage system, costing AED 1.439 billion, will help protect communities from flooding, allowing residents to enjoy the season with peace of mind.

The UAEโ€™s infrastructure momentum is shaping future cities. For construction firms, this translates into strategic growth, opportunities for innovation, and partnership potential in one of the worldโ€™s most ambitious development landscapes.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Handling finances across multiple currencies in the construction projects isnโ€™t simple. Without a proper system, your financial records can be inaccurate, hard to audit, or out of date.

This is why FirstBit ERP offers built-in multi-currency capabilities plus full financial integration, so you can manage international transactions, conversions, and reporting with confidence.

๐Ÿ’กHow can you tame the complexity of multi-currency accounting with First Bit?

๐ŸŒ Multiple base currencies across entities

Assign a local base currency for each legal entity. This makes it easier to manage operations across borders without mixing up your books.

๐Ÿ’ฑ Flexible transaction currency support

Issue invoices, record purchases, or bank transactions in foreign currency โ€” First Bit automatically converts these into your base currency. You donโ€™t need manual calculations or separate ledgers

๐Ÿ“Š Robust exchange rate management

Import daily exchange rates or enter manual/average rates. First Bit links each transaction to the rate used at the time, preserving historical accuracy and audit traceability.

๐Ÿ”„ Automated end-of-period revaluation

At reporting dates, foreign-currency balances (e.g., bank balances, receivables, payables) are revalued automatically. Gains or losses are posted properly, giving you accurate financial statements without manual journal entries.

๐Ÿ” Transparent audit trails

Every foreign-currency transaction and revaluation is logged โ€” with rates used, source, date, and supporting document. This builds accountability and helps with audits or regulatory compliance.

โœ… With FirstBit ERP, you can transform multi-currency accounting from a headache into a streamlined, automated process โ€” giving you clarity, control, and compliance across all your financial operations.
