The platforms you’re using is killing your growth.
Chances are you the reader might be a hustler or established solopreneur with bigger dreams than where you currently are in your life journey. And there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s not a secret that everyone wants a higher quality of life.
So if you are someone that fantasizes about better opportunities to enrich your life and others, growing your business, earning more money, gaining respect, gaining higher quality friends who want to see you grow and help you check off goals and dreams, continue reading…
“Doing the same thing over and over and getting the same result is insanity “. You might need to just pause for a period and try adjusting. But first, literally, just stop and reflect for a bit.
During your moment of reflection ask yourself these questions:
Are you visible?
Do you help others?
And where’s the proof?
Who are the people you interact with?
Are they adding quality to your life in the things they say or do?
Are you consistent in what you put out?
Do you travel?
Do you attend seminars or just fetes?
How often to you say thanks to others?
Are you vocal about what you want to achieve?
And more importantly which platform are you using to share each of the above? Facebook? IG? TikTok? Twitter?
Something I have recently discovered that hindered the potency of my ‘professional’ growth is that I was documenting my accomplishments on the wrong f*****g platform! Just Facebook or WhatsApp 😭 Plus I wasn’t even documenting all my accomplishments.
Yes I’m an expert in graphic design, but I was not an expert in self promoting or marketing. My accolades and my work fortunately brought me work. But I could have leveraged that by properly documenting my works on Linked In to grow trust with international brands and networks which in turn would’ve gotten me further along.
This tough lesson was learned when I migrated to study and absolutely no one in America knew that I am an expert. I couldn’t rely on word of mouth like back home in Antigua to back me up. Up here, your Linked In profile must coincide with your work experience as the proof!
I’ve had many conversations with potential clients and even colleagues, and nothing more became of it. You know why? After every conversation these people go and look you up on Linked In to see if you’re truly the professional you are, not your Facebook. And when you are no where to be found on the platform they use for business they ghost you, they’ve already marked you off as a fraud.
Why am I sharing this with you? I am sharing because I didn’t know. No one told me it was one of the essentials in today’s world. I was using only what I knew, doing the same thing over and over (insanity). I failed to maximize my reach because I just didn’t know. I don’t want my fellow Caribbean people making this mistake I did. You can prepare yourself locally to enter into the international arena, Linked In is where you build the business network that will put you on to the people who will put money and opportunities in your pocket.
