Bluejeans which are an essential, timeless, and always contemporary wardrobe staple for many of us. They are worn by men, women and children of all ages and backgrounds. This is not a new trend, as jeans date back to the 1800s. The main raw material is denim fabric.
When a Bavarian immigrant named Levi Strauss brought denim to America in 1853 – he sold blue denim work pants to local workers who needed strong clothes that could withstand rough working conditions.
Jeans were durable but easily ripped at pockets of the pants. Jacob Davis, a tailor, was one of Levi Strauss’ regular customers. In 1872, he wrote a letter to Strauss about his method of making work pants with metal rivets on the stress points – at the corners of the pockets and the base of the button fly – to make them stronger.
He wanted to patent his idea, but he didn’t ‘t have the money to file the papers. Because of that, he suggested that Strauss provides the funds and that they get the patent together. He liked the and on May 20, 1873, the two men received patent.
They chose sturdy fabric for their pants, and they became popular.
