⚡️ Feature Alert: Correct Mistakes for Old Videos

Until now, if you wanted to correct an error in an existing YouTube video or provide updated information, you had to re-upload the video, resulting in decreased engagement metrics.

You could, of course, mention the mistake in the comments, but not all viewers would see this note.

With the launch of Corrections, creators will be able to call attention to corrections and clarifications in the description of already published videos.

When creators add a correction, viewers will see a card appear at the time of the error. Clicking on that card will expand the video description where the correction is described.

Check if you have the channel tags by following these steps:

1. Head to YouTube Studio.
2. Click "Settings."
3. Head to "Channel" and "Basic info."

Why are channel keywords important?

YouTube uses Channel Keywords, your Channel Description, and the types of videos you produce to figure out your channel’s overall topic and category.

Best practices for YouTube channel keywords:

👉 should be kept rather broad
👉 should include non-branded and branded keywords related to your business (your brand name, relevant industry keywords, product category keywords).

⚡️ Feature Alert: Popular Segments on YouTube

Popular Segments are presented as a graph that lets viewers quickly see which parts of a video they may find the most interesting and allows them to easily navigate to highlights within a video.

The graph's peaks indicate the parts of the video that have been most replayed. It will only appear if the users start seeking.

However, the Popular Segments feature raised some concerns. Will it decrease watch time or negatively impact some content types? 🤔

The good news is that in YouTube's experiment, developers found that there's no statistically significant impact to watch time from showing these graphs. Neither is there any impact on watch time to particular content types.
