One of the biggest challenges in telematics isn't the technology. It's the friction. Separate apps, complex onboarding, unclear value for the customer. That's where most rollouts stall.

Vienna Insurance Group took a different approach. Short trips dominate accident statistics — not because drivers are worse on them, but because they represent the highest frequency and the highest relative risk combined. The first 3 minutes of any journey carry a relative risk score of 3. By the time you're past 40 minutes, that drops to 1.9 — on a trip most drivers never even take.
