Past week, we were excited being a part of Vienna Daughters Day 2026 Wiener Töchtertag!

For one day we invited girls and young women to join our youniqx team and develop their own personal app! From a tasty breakfast and getting to know each other, we dove straight into the day’s challenge – creating an engaging app for the animal shelter from scratch 💡

On the way, we experienced the full lifecycle of developing an app project together:
- UI/UX basics including user research and sketching screens with paper wireframes,
- making important decisions regarding feasibility and client requirements
- and the everyday reality of a developer’s world (yes, bug‑hunting is a bit like a treasure hunt!).

By the end of the day, we developed a functioning prototype with the required features and the participants received their personal certificate for their amazing work! 🏅

Why does this matter to us? Empowering young women with hands‑on tech skills helps build the next generation of innovators in secure digital identity – a field that’s shaping the future of trustworthy, mobile documentation.

A huge thank‑you to all the curious minds who joined us, and to Vienna Daughters Day for spotlighting the power of creativity, collaboration, and code!

The EU announced the launch of it’s new age‑verification app within the next weeks – and we’re already on‑board. Our technology‑agnostic verifier solution already enables the support of the upcoming age verification.

The current push by the EU for a rollout of a new age‑verification app is an overall step in the right direction 🇪🇺. It comprises a digital solution that minimises data and fully respects GDPR.

At youniqx Identity, we’ve already put this very principle into practice:

🇦🇹 In 2023 we delivered a fully digital proof‑of‑age within the national digital Id document platform for our customer .

🛂 This lets users prove their age without sharing a name, birthplace, address or any other personal data that is non‑essential for the task.

📲 Today it can be used in everyday situations – from entering clubs to buying alcohol – proving that privacy‑first verification works in the real world.

Although it is a step in the right direction, it is still unclear how the envisions the place of this new age‑verification within the EUDI ecosystem.

On the one hand, it paves the way for the upcoming EUDI wallet framework, showing that secure, data‑minimized and GDPR‑compliant verification can become the new standard across Europe. On the other hand, it contrasts with the idea of the EUDI wallet being the single, centralized digital‑ID solution.

It will be interesting to see how the integration unfolds in existing roadmaps beyond 2026/27.

We are excited to announce a new leadership structure at youniqx Identity AG. Our former CEO Helmut Lackner is transitioning to the youniqx Supervisory Board, bringing his deep experience to our governance and long‑term oversight.

Our CPO Sebastian Zehetbauer and CTO Stefan Vogl are now also taking on the executive responsibility on the Management Board. Both Sebastian and Stefan are founding members of youniqx who have helped shape the company through their successful contributions over the past years.

Sebastian and Stefan look forward to build on the achievements of youniqx and positioning us for continuous growth and innovation.
