Cyber resilience is no longer optional. It’s your ticket to compete in defence supply chains in domestic and international markets.

The South Australian Defence Industry Cyber Capability Uplift Program is designed for professionals responsible for strengthening business operations and supporting cyber readiness.

The program aims to:
☑️ Increase cyber security awareness and capability among Defence SMEs seeking to meet Essential Eight Maturity Level 2 requirements.
☑️Enable organisations to assess cyber maturity, identify security gaps and develop improvement pathways.
☑️Support alignment with Defence requirements and international frameworks including CMMC 2.0 and UK cyber standards.
☑️Foster trusted collaboration, information sharing and stronger Defence industry connections.

On Thursday 13 August, Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre (Aus3C) hosted our monthly Cyber Meet at Lot Fourteen. It was a SOLD-OUT event with a full house.

It was great to see so many from our member community there!

Thanks to guest speaker - Derek Grocke, Director/Founder of Madrock Advisory. At the networking event, Derek provided us with an informative discussion, exploring the connections between business processes, contracts, data, AI technology and the physical environment, and consider what organisations should be asking of their suppliers before those dependencies become an unseen source risk.

The South Australian Defence Industry Cyber Capability Uplift Program has been designed to support defence SMEs in understanding their current cyber maturity, identifying areas for improvement and taking practical steps towards stronger cyber capability.

Through expert-led workshops, cyber maturity assessments and practical resources, participants will gain the knowledge and tools needed to better understand Defence expectations and prepare their business for future opportunities.

CyberPath and You: Co-designing the future of Australia’s cyber workforce | Professionalisation Pilot

Launched in December 2025 as a collaborative industry effort, CyberPath is Australia’s cyber workforce professionalisation pilot. This interactive workshop brings together community voices to shape CyberPath and create the picture of what good looks like in a modern framework. Your insights will directly support CyberPath's broader goal of building and growing cyber capabilities for Australia, and with a diversity and inclusion by design mindset. We will explore how competency can be defined to address real-world cyber threats and how we could craft a recognition framework together that acknowledges diverse talent and pathways. We will also explore the challenges and opportunities in finding and developing talent today. We will talk through the ‘what’s in it for me’ for both the employers and practitioners and what we can reasonably build together to support the needs of both on their CyberPath journey.

At ADSTAR 2026, on behalf of the CyberPath consortium we were able to share the program.

CyberPath is a government-backed pilot program to build a standardised, inclusive and highly skilled cyber security workforce in Australia. The Australian Defence Force is also significantly investing in and developing its cyber capabilities to evolve threats and opportunities in the cyber domain. The Defence Cyber Security Strategy outlines how Defence will strengthen its cyber security posture over the next ten years, detailing how it will combat cyber threats and ensure its capabilities are secure against attacks from adversaries.

Both CyberPath and the Defence Cyber Security Strategy are key enablers in the Australian Government’s Cyber Security Strategy 2023-2030, contributing to a high-performing Defence enterprise that can continue to deliver on its mission of defending Australia and its national interests.
