Happy International Women's Day!

On International Women's Day (and every day), we'd like to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible contributions of women across all industries and specifically in the whole fresh & perishable food supply chain - from growers, wholesalers, retailers and other wholesale buyers.

Two of our founders - Murad Mekhtiev and Sabina Zeynalova are at SOUTHSTART today and tomorrow, before getting ready for a week in San Francisco and Silicon Valley including attending the World Agritech Summit!

1600 delegates from 16 countries, including farmers, startups, corporates, researchers, government and investors, came along to AgriFutures Australia evokeAG this year. We had an incredible few days of the whole agritech ecosystem collaborating, building new ideas and sharing knowledge.

The panel discussions around agrifood tech supply chains and how the landscape is changing, as well as the insights on the investment predictions for 2023, were absolutely amazing.

As a recap, here are some of the quotes of today: "We still need more angels and investors, but overall the Australian investment ecosystem looks very healthy.” AgFunder

"We have a lot of technologies that are solving on-farm issues, but we also need technologies that are looking to solve problems across the whole value chain”, Tenacious Ventures

Huge thanks to AgriFutures Australia and especially AgriFutures Australia evokeAG team for putting such an amazing conference together!

What a year 2022 has been!

This was a difficult year for many growers and wholesalers, including most of our early adopters (looking at you, La Niña and floods).

We are constantly inspired by the growers who continue to do what they do day in and day out, growing the food we eat.

Despite the challenges, 2022 saw a successful early access program for OmniOrder, our first capital raise with Skalata Ventures, the establishment of our Egypt-based development team, and the development of new and exciting features that will make OmniOrder even easier to deploy into any fresh produce business.

Thank you to our team, customers, early adopters, investors, mentors and all our supporters in both the fresh produce industry and the startup / Agtech ecosystem. We couldn’t have achieved what we did without you.

As the year winds down, wishing every one of you a wonderful holiday season and a great start to the new year!

Bring on 2023, and stay tuned for a major announcement from the team at Optomni!

We are very excited to partner with Skalata Ventures on our first seed raise and build out a strong foundation for growth!

This raise will support expansion of the OmniOrder platform to cover more use cases and support a national rollout after successful early access trials.

Our mission at Optomni is to help the fresh and perishables supply chain maximise efficiency, become more sustainable and reduce unnecessary food waste and losses due to supply-demand mismatches.

Today is Stop Food Waste Day!

45% of root crops, fruit and vegetables produced globally are lost or wasted each year! This horrible waste happens both within the supply chain and at the consumer level.

In Australia, we already have a number of activities to reduce our food waste. These include consumer education, investment in waste treatment infrastructure, waste diversion from the retail and commercial sector, food collection for redistribution, and research into high value uses for food waste.

At Optomni, we focus on reducing waste in the supply chain by connecting and optimising supply and demand. Supply-demand mismatches are a significant contributor to the 18-22% of waste in Australia's supply chain.

Last week was all about , spending our time on the road meeting with and people we have been virtually working with for some time now!

Huge thanks for the support and collaboration we've received from Agtech and Logistics Hub and all the people involved! And of course, the big part of the trip was to finally meet with the team at Qualipac to support the trial of OmniOrder!

Recent floods have caused massive destruction and damage to farms in Qld but growers are staying strong and are bouncing back as always. We are already looking forward to be back in this beautiful region soon!
