Taking a look back through the Red5 logo archive, and jumping on the Logo Archive trend.

Some of these marks were designed recently. Others are over 20 years old and still holding up today.
Different industries. Different challenges. Different stories behind every one.

The goal has always stayed the same though. Create logos that are clear, memorable and built to last.
And guess what? None of them were designed with AI.

‘38 Days’ Cabernet Sauvignon / Shiraz by Hastwell & Lightfoot

Produced from estate-grown old vine Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz from McLaren Vale, the wine takes its name from the 38 days of extended maceration used to build depth, complexity and structure.

Designed to sit within Hastwell & Lightfoot’s premium range, the label follows a restrained and considered visual approach that reflects the character of the wine itself.

The concept centres around 38 circles, each representing one day of the extended maceration process. Progressively darkening across the label, they symbolise the wine’s slow development of depth, richness and intensity over time.

Metallic silver foil and high build clear varnish add subtle contrast and texture, reinforcing a premium finish.

Redefining the “Super-App” experience for OTR.
For a national convenience retail leader with 800+ locations, “convenience” isn’t a buzzword; it’s a high-stakes UX challenge. We led a comprehensive overhaul to transform the OTR ecosystem into a true Super-App by mapping complex multi-brand logic into a frictionless, context-aware experience.

From rapid sketch prototyping to a modular design system that moves at the speed of the commuter, every tap was optimised to turn minutes of friction into seconds of flow.

Back to where it all began.
I might be showing my age here, but putting this post together really took me back.

My career started in 1999. In those days, your morning involved waiting for these splash screens to load while you made a coffee. Going back to Uni days, I remember being blown away when Photoshop added layers!

This was the era of Zip drives, 1.3-megapixel digital cameras, and constant crashes thanks to corrupt fonts. It wasn’t always faster, but it’s where I learned my craft. Now, the tools may have changed, but the core design principles haven’t. No matter how powerful the software gets, at the end of the day, it’s still just a tool. It’s up to the designer behind the screen to know how to use it.

Who still misses Freehand? 🙋🏻‍♂️

Millions of people have seen this logo. Most have no idea I designed it.

Back in 2008, I spent a year living and working in London. While at Whippet, I had the opportunity to design the original logo mark for Tesco Mobile — one of the UK's biggest retail brands. Being Australian, I had absolutely no idea how big Tesco really was at the time.

The logo ran for twelve years before being updated in 2020. Swipe through to see the concept, the thinking behind it, and what changed.

‘Sands of Time’ Shiraz by Hastwell & Lightfoot

Sourced from sandy coastal vineyards in McLaren Vale, the wine itself reflects that same sense of place and restraint.

This minimalistic design has been created to sit alongside “Once Around the Sun”, maintaining a consistent visual language across the range.

On the label details, gold foil pulls from the tones of sand, while high build clear varnish adds a subtle texture that shifts in the light. The lines aren’t just for decoration. They represent the wind-blown sand and the vineyard rows.

In the fast-paced energy sector, a static website isn’t enough to get noticed. A scalable digital foundation is essential.

I’m pleased to share our recent collaboration with Beat Energy.
They needed a platform that was reliable, user-friendly, and crucially, easy for their internal teams to manage as they grew.

We moved away from rigid templates and delivered a comprehensive bespoke design system and a custom modular page builder. This approach allows the client to maintain design integrity while rapidly deploying new content without constant developer reliance.

A huge thank you to the Beat Energy team for trusting us with this exciting project.

Looking back at the last 12 months, I’m incredibly proud of the momentum we’ve built. From smashing revenue targets to strengthening relationships with enterprises in the defence and manufacturing sectors, it’s been a year of amazing growth, but more importantly, it was a year of balance. You can’t always fill every cup, but I made sure the right ones stayed full. I’m excited and ready to keep this momentum going into 2026!
