The Lumination League champion has been named! 🌟🏆

This year, 18 teams from across Australia competed in the Lumination League, an immersive competition designed to enhance engagement, collaboration, and digital literacy.

Over six weeks, participants developed skills in creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and precision across subjects like English, mathematics, the arts, humanities, science, and physical education. Using XR technology, teams brought their ideas to life—whether designing 3D models, composing music, or testing science experiments—demonstrating the power of innovation in learning.

After six weeks of creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving, SJC Red, from St Joseph's College Geelong, rose to the top and claimed victory! 👑

A huge congratulations to all the participants—you’ve shown what’s possible when passion meets technology! 💡

Lumination League: HoloLAB Champions VR Challenge 🌟 🧪

Last week, our teams donned their virtual lab coats and dove into Challenge #5! Using HoloLAB Champions VR, they tackled science experiments with precision—measuring, pouring, and calculating their way to success. 🔬✨

A huge round of applause to SJC Red from St Joseph's College Geelong for claiming the top spot! 🏆 With a flawless 100% score across the board, their teamwork and accuracy were truly next-level. Bravo, SJC Red! 👏

The competition heats up as we head into the final All-In-One Sports Basketball Challenge! 🏀 Which team will rise to the occasion and be crowned the 2024 Lumination League Champions? Stay tuned to find out! 🔥

Last Friday, Lumination had the privilege of presenting and facilitating workshops at the It Takes a Spark EDUConference in Launceston, Tasmania. The event brought together educators, students, and STEM leaders for a day of collaboration, inspiration, and hands-on learning at Launceston Church Grammar School.

As a workshop facilitator, Sara White, guided participants through an engaging session focused on STEM experiences, fostering creativity and critical thinking. Students were given various challenges which used the VR experiences to help create solutions.

In addition to the workshop, Sara led a teacher professional development session titled "Transforming Classrooms: Unlocking the Power of Immersive Technology." This session shared preliminary research and best practices for integrating virtual reality into the classroom, highlighting how can enhance student engagement and deepen learning outcomes.

The event was a resounding success, sparking meaningful conversations and fresh ideas that will undoubtedly inspire change in classrooms across the region.

Last Friday, Lumination had the privilege of joining Santa Sabina College for their incredible Fra Angelico Festival! 🌟🎶

Lumination Learning Designer, Sara White, along with Brittany Ponting, Acting Dean of Innovation & Enterprise at Santa Sabina, hosted sold-out sessions in the school's immersive Learning Lab, where parents and students explored the wonder of IMVR technology. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their skills and highlight how Santa Sabina is embracing new ways of teaching and learning – through hands-on, collaborative lessons and experiences.

With 600+ performers in music, dance, and drama, stunning art displays, a dazzling light show, kids’ disco, and Eat Street, the festival was a vibrant celebration of the arts! 🎭

Lumination League: Tiny Town VR Challenge 🏙️

Last week, our teams stepped up to design the perfect neighbourhood in 3D for Challenge #4! Using Tiny Town VR, they crafted spaces where comfort, community, and convenience go hand in hand.

A huge congratulations to Programmers Eternal from Australian Christian College - Marsden Park! 🏆 Their neighbourhood features a school, ice cream parlour, bridges, maisonettes, a clinic, and even a car attendant. They created a vibrant, connected community that truly enhances quality of life. Well done!

Lumination League: Google Blocks VR Challenge 🎮

This week’s challenge was all about creativity and precision! Teams stepped into VR to build 3D models of real-world objects using geometric shapes. From structures like the Sydney Opera House to Tower Bridge, teams brought their A-game, turning geometry into art.

Shoutout to the Loreto Armadillos from Loreto College, Marryatville! Their incredible Statue of Liberty design blew us away. Using cones, spheres, cubes, and rectangular prisms, they combined detail and scale to create something truly iconic. 🗽

Massive props to all teams for your amazing entries—you made geometry look good. 💪

Another incredible Open Lab Series session at Endeavour College on Friday! 🎉

A big thank you to our fantastic speakers from Endeavour College – Catherine Barnes AALIA(DCP), Annicka Adolphi and Julia Congedi – as well as students Kaddi and Josh, for sharing their insights on how immersive technology is enhancing student engagement, fostering creativity, collaboration and supporting problem-solving across a range of subjects at the school.

Lumination League 2024: The Competition is On!

The Lumination League is in full swing, with schools from across Australia competing in an exciting 6-week inter-school tournament that challenges students’ creativity and problem-solving skills!

Here’s a recap of the first two challenges:

🎨 Challenge #1: Teams brought scenes from their favourite books, poems, or short stories to life in 3D using Tilt Brush. St Joseph's College Geelong took home the top prize for their outstanding representation of The Treehouse Series, showing incredible creativity and storytelling.

🎶 Challenge #2: Students had the option to either craft a sculpture representing their school’s spirit and values or create a 30-second to 1-minute theme song. The Science Team from Australian Christian College - Marsden Park wowed judges with their stunning virtual sculpture, The Blue Jay.

Now, the competition continues with Challenge #3—the Mathematics Round, where teams will create something amazing using their Lumination Learning Labs. Stay tuned as we get closer to crowning the champions!

Dive into the depths of the ocean with immersive technology and discover the wonders of marine life! 🌊🐬

In this engaging developed by Lumination Learning Designer Zeinab Jafari, students will explore the underwater world using IMVR technology to learn how marine animals survive in their habitats.

Focusing on marine biology and ecosystems, this lesson plan enhances science learning in an exciting and interactive way! 🐠

This is one of many lesson plans our team have created for our Lumination Education Centre - a learning management system for , providing teachers with training, tutorials, lesson plans, hashtag content and more.

Thank you to everyone who attended Lumination’s Open Lab Series at Australian Christian College - Marsden Park. It was an afternoon filled with inspiring discussions and hands-on demonstrations, showing how immersive technology is shaping the future of education. ✨

A special thank you to our amazing speakers from ACC – Ross Howard, Ron Raj, Ben Tranter, Skye Musumeci, Simeon Jordan – and to students Naomi and Vivaan, for sharing how immersive technology is being used at the school to support student engagement, problem-solving, and creativity across multiple subjects.

Yesterday we spent the day at Ardrossan Area School inducting their new group of Student Lab Mentors!

Lumination’s Student Lab Mentor Program gives students the opportunity to become leaders in . Through this training, they learn how to set up Lumination Learning Labs, assist , and run immersive learning experiences for their peers.

These students have gained a solid understanding of basics, lab equipment, and controls. With valuable hands-on experience using technology, they’re now ready to support their classmates and enhance the learning environment.

Well done to all the new Student Lab Mentors!
