Sharing the art that you create is a powerful, vulnerable and scary thing to do.

It is a huge step to create something for an idea and make a mark on a page, a screen or a file. Art communicates on many levels and across many interpretations.

Art can be interpreted in so many way. It can also evoke questions and spark curiousity. Art should be seen, celebrated and loved in bars, galleries and in homes.

Body of Becoming (and other desires) is closing this week.

My exhibition is closing this week.

Due to the exhibition being displayed in a community space, some of the artwork has been taken down.

This decision was not taken lightly, was reluctant and was a compromise.

Thank you to everyone who has seen the exhibition before the removal of works and to supporters from the City of Unley, City of Onkaparinga, SALA, Feast Festival and the South Australian Rainbow Advocacy Alliance.

Missed a bit of The Grid?

Some keen-eyed visitors may have noticed something a little different…

Not every piece in The Grid is exactly what it first appears to be.

Part of the concept has always been about repetition, variation and the endless scroll of images and choices. Some works began as prints, some are originals, and some have subtle differences that make them their own.

The good news? If you've found a favourite that has already found a new home, it may be possible to bring that work home as a print.

I'm also open to enquiries about reproducing selected works in a size that suits your space. Not all works from The Grid are available to make into a print!

Sometimes the one you connect with isn't the one on the wall and that's part of the story.

The "Other Desires"

The title Body of Becoming (and other desires) isn't only about the desire to be seen.

It's about the many things we reach for, such as the desire for connection, expression, belonging, confidence, colour, beauty, and the freedom to create spaces that feel like our own.

While The Grid explores choice and the small moments of connection found in individual works, the larger pieces in the exhibition invite a slower kind of looking.

Works like A Third Heart Beats, An Odd Place For Warmth, An Internal Flame Arises, and Solid Shadows explore intimacy, identity, vulnerability and the many ways we experience ourselves.

If you've found a work that speaks to you but the original isn't available, selected works can be reproduced as high-quality prints in a range of sizes to suit your space. Reach out to me adn we can arrange something!

Sometimes collecting art begins with simply finding the piece that feels like it belongs with you.

Solid Shadows

Solid Shadows sits between strength and vulnerability.

The unfinished face and expressive brushwork leave space for reflection, while lavender and charcoal tones shape a confident torso that feels both present and concealed.

It asks quiet questions about masculinity, identity and what we choose to reveal and what we keep hidden.

Solid Shadows is on display throughout August and is available for purchase.
