Update on Telstra's network outage affecting Australian mobile users:

The original issue impacting mobile calls, SMS and data on Telstra Wholesale's network has now been resolved. Most services are back to normal.

However, there remains a risk that some Triple Zero (000) calls may still be affected. If this happens, you may receive an error message and your phone will attempt to connect to an alternative mobile network.

Telstra Wholesale has made good progress, reducing the occurrence of the Triple Zero calling error by approximately 90%, and continues to work to eliminate this issue entirely. Telstra Wholesale’s welfare check process remains in place, so if a Triple Zero call doesn’t connect through their network, a welfare check will be completed as standard.

If you experience any issues calling Triple Zero (000):
Wait for your phone to connect to an alternative network if one is available. This can take up to 90 seconds. Use a different phone to make the call, if one is available.

New Connections & Porting for Spacetalk customers:
During the outage, our ability to make changes in Telstra Wholesale’s system was also impacted. If you requested a new connection or a port during this time, this is now being processed, though you may see a short delay.

Need Further Support?
For further support, please email our customer service team at [email protected].

We understand how important this is for the safety of your family, and we sincerely apologise for any disruption caused by our network partner.

šŸŽ® What are kids actually into online these days?

Because ā€œscreen timeā€ means very different things depending on their age. Here’s your quick parent cheat sheet:
Ā
Ages 6–9: Little explorers are:
✨ Building worlds
šŸŽØ Being creative
šŸ‘« Playing with friends
šŸ“ŗ Watching videos
Ā
What to look out for:
āš ļø In-game chats with strangers
āš ļø Unexpected purchases or ads
āš ļø Age-inappropriate content recommendations
āš ļø Excessive screen time
Ā
Ages 10–12: The In-Be’tween’ Years are into:
šŸ‘„ Socialising with friends
šŸŽ„ Watching creators
šŸŽ® Gaming together
šŸ“š Exploring hobbies and homework help
Ā
What to look out for:
āš ļø Pressure to join social media early
āš ļø Group chats and private messaging
āš ļø Exposure to older content
āš ļø Online friendships and digital etiquette
Ā
Every generation grows up connected differently. The goal isn’t to avoid technology altogether and instead, help your kids navigate it safely, one age and stage at a time.

Who remembers doing these?
Ā
ā˜Žļø Memorised their best friend’s home phone number.
🚲 Rode bikes around the house until the street lights came on.
🚪 Knocked on someone’s door to ask, ā€œCan they come out?ā€
šŸ—ŗļø Printed MapQuest directions.
šŸ”¦ Played outside for HOURS without anyone hearing from them.
ā° Called home from a payphone when plans changed.
Ā
Different times. Same parenting worries.
Ā
Today’s parents are navigating a new challenge: giving kids enough independence to grow, while staying safely connected along the way.
Ā
That’s why more families are choosing age-appropriate tech-first solutions to help their kids stay connected with calls, messaging and GPS safety features, without jumping straight into smartphones and social media.
