Woohoo – today I'm sharing a how a brand refresh (for Raw4Paws - natural pet food brand) impacted their Insta brand identity.

Starting with the brand strategy, one of the first things I recognized was that the market had loads competitors. But, hardly any had a Single Protein offering. Yay for us! 🎉

It meant there was a gap in the market to connect with our primary purchaser – wholesale pet food companies and vets plus smaller retailers such as groomers.

🧠 These are the Raw4Paws brand intentions:
• Create a brand voice communicate 'genuine nutrition for dogs and cats'
• Reposition the brand to stand out and feel trustworthy
• Implement cohesive brand image across all touch points
• Refresh the brand image but maintain the existing packaging design and colour coding for each product.

The brand transformation has infused Raw4Paws with engaging and heartfelt vibes that align with its purpose. The product colour coding is enhanced by the 'circus tent' graphics. Personally, I love the typography in the logo and the more neutral colour palette used for the primary brand elements.

As far as the FSANZ code is concerned, your recycling information is 100% optional.

You can use text or symbols. You can you can use another symbol/graphic that communicates your message.
Australia’s official recycling information is available through APCO - The Australian Recycling Label (ARL).

The ARL has been created for brand owners to confidently label their products to assist their customers to dispose of the product correctly and efficiently. Search 'the-australasian-recycling-label’.

If you don’t want to pay the fee for the ARL you don’t have to. BUT, it does add a fair bit of cred to a brand commitment for a better planet.

People say to me all the time, "I want my product to stand out”. Well yes of course. But it’s not enough to be beautiful or delicious - packaging and labels perform best when they are ‘designed to sell’ with a laser sharp focus on your target markets pain points.

Here's how:
• 1. A powerful hook that dominates the design will help consumers choose your product over your competitors. And that powerful hook is an answer to a common customer pain point. It can be as simple as low sugar, portion sizing or a protein+ variant. Make it succinct and strong.

• 2. The packaging design will position your product in the market - look for a category gap. Check each segment: luxury, economical, healthy, leader, or some niche where a customer desire is not being fulfilled. Dive in and explore your customer desires.

• 3. Connect with your customer vibe and values through your visuals and brand story (this is an emotional pain point).

Alignment of these 3 pain points is essential for converting lookers to buyers.

Some people really avoid talking about money, but every brand owner I’ve ever met is interested in the cost of branding.

So today I’m going to give you a breakdown of costing levels based on the most common need I encounter when people come to me for “branding”. The prices below cover “branding” as in “brand strategy, logo and label design”.

But I need to preface my answer by saying there are loads of variables without specific details.

To start with – is the brand a multinational company or a startup or something in between?

Secondly the cost will be impacted by what is needed for the labels (product photography? Illustration based design? Minimalist style?)

And of course, how much research is required to nut out the overall brand strategy.

Finally, what about the project communication - are we talking a team of people all wanting their 2 cents in the design process, an indecisive team leader who or one person who’s a fast decision maker?

💬 Ok so, there are many variables. For that reason I am giving you ballparks for where I live – Brisbane Australia.

⇨ DIY templates: $0-200
⇨ Offshore Designer: $200-500
⇨ Beginner Designer: $500-2K
⇨ Mid-level Designer: $2-5K
⇨ Experienced Designer: $5-10K
⇨ Small agency: $10-25K
⇨ Mid-sized boutique agency: $25-50K
⇨ Swanky big agency: $50-100K
⇨ Global agency: $100-300K

Today I’m sharing my brand transformation for Quest Chiropractic Coaching, starting with the logo.

After the creating the brand strategy, we established the nautical theme in the name should be reflected in all of the brand touch points including the logo design.

Personally I love the lighthouse concept presented first, but in the end the client went with the compass, as the primary symbol to represent the direction and guidance they provide in their chiropractic coaching business.

If you want your brand to represent your business positively, then sometimes it’s just time to upgrade❣️

Sick of the scroll? 📱 Do you ever want to look at an entire page on your website without scrolling up and down?

I’ve found a way around this by using Go Full Page. 📜

It’s a super intuitive Chrome extension and only takes 3 seconds.

Here’s how:

1. In browser search for “GoFullPage’, click first result 'Chrome Web Store’
2. Click the "Add to Chrome" button to install the GoFullPage extension.
3. Click ’the little camera icon' to generate an image of the website page open
4. Click ’download’ icon and it will pop into your downloads folder.

With the silly season approaching it’s probably a good time to ensure your allergen declarations and warning statements are current and correct – they may save a life!

Since people can experience severe allergic reactions to minute food ingredients, FSANZ require exposure foods to be declared and there is a particular way to do it.

List these below the ingredients and accompany with a warning statement. They may include peanuts, other tree nuts, crustacea, fish, milk, eggs, sesame, soybeans, wheat and gluten. Visibility is paramount so make the warning statement bold and then bold in the ingredients list as well.

Type size for warning statements must at least 3mm (1.5mm on small packages) from baseline to letter top.

Going to sleep listening to water lapping at the sand is one of my favourite things about camping on Noosa River.

We had a top spot! Our tent was literally metres from the water and in the shade - such a bonus.

Loads of family catch ups, watching crabs scurry about on the sand, a sting ray came right up to me, swimming in clear blue water and the smell of the beach.

Was a great way to recharge.
