Earlier this year, Okuru had the opportunity to support a clean-up project with Sungai Watch, an organisation doing incredible work to stop plastic pollution before it reaches the ocean.

This week, they shared the final impact report.

Together, seven clean-ups in North Bali removed 835 kg of non-organic waste from the environment. Reading through the report and seeing the before-and-after photos was a reminder that meaningful impact is often built through many small actions carried out consistently.

When we started Okuru, we wanted to build something that made gifting simpler while creating less waste. Every digital gift card replaces paper cards, envelopes and unnecessary shipping. It is only a small part of a much bigger picture, but we believe small choices matter.

Supporting organisations like Sungai Watch is another way we can contribute beyond the product we build.

A sincere thank you to the entire Sungai Watch team for the work you do every day. The clean-ups are only part of the story. The education, waste recovery, and long-term commitment to protecting Indonesia's rivers are what create lasting change.
