Windows End of Support 7, 8, 8.1, and 10
(((((((((((((((((((((((((()--()))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Thought I would share some info on Microsoft Windows End of Life for Win7,8,8.1, & 10. This means whilst one can still use the product, it simply wont receive security updates.

This is a security issue, as leaves it open for breaches of the operating system with devices connected to the internet.

That time of the year - destroying old Hard Drives. This is what I do with old hard drives I have before recycling. I completely dissassemble them to retrieve useful things before E-Waste.

- Taking out the Data Platters depending on drive size usually one > three (The CD Looking Objects)
- Remove the Head (This is the record player needle object)
- Remove the Magnets ( These are Neodymium (rare earth) magnet's). They come in very handy for various things. There are two to each Hard Drive, they hold the Head in place.

All goes to E-Waste once Platters are broken down - is a great stress reliever.

I always stated to users, Optus is open no encryption on data. Now it has happened. Data breached a ton of users Data released via an insecure app lol - now most probably available on the Dark web, all information. This is a huge hack and one that will have a roll on effect.

Facebook business and advertising accounts are at the receiving end of an ongoing campaign dubbed "Ducktail" designed to seize control as part of a financially driven cybercriminal operation.

"The threat actor targets individuals and employees that may have access to a Facebook Business account with an information-stealer malware," Finnish cybersecurity company WithSecure (formerly F-Secure Business) said in a new report.

"The malware is designed to steal browser cookies and take advantage of authenticated Facebook sessions to steal information from the victim's Facebook account and ultimately hijack any Facebook Business account that the victim has sufficient access to."

Here is how it works -

A warning to any SMB's out there. I received a phishing scam in my notifications. Was from Social Networking Registration and apparently I am breaching copyright..ok then.

I think it is similar to the one in 2021 in regards to a posting violation phishing scam or whatever it was. Is the same thing, the attacker wants you to be concerned and click on the link, then the attacker will have access to your FB details and your screwed. As have fun trying the never-ending FB torture of recovering account.

Just check the validity of the link either by hovering over the link or use a url validator like https://www.urlvoid.com/.

Stay smart, stay safe.

A heads up to any SMB's out there, a phishing attempt that came up in my notifications. Apparently I am going against a copyright infringement...ok then :P

I think it is similar to the one in 2021, regarding violations against blah blah.

Just remember to always verify links before clicking on anything.
One can hover over the link to display the actual URL, also a handy tool is https://www.urlvoid.com/ to check a websites rating for other types of phishing scams.

Stay smart, stay safe.

Why You Must Routinely Take Full System Image Backups of Your Computer

As a computer owner, and particularly if you’ve been using your computer (or a succession of computers, moving your data along) for years, the most valuable thing you have is not the computer itself, but the information – the data – you have on it.

If you do not take full system image backups, you could lose everything at a moment’s notice.

Things that can cause data loss include:

1. Drive failure (and attempts to recover data from a conventional hard disk drive [HDD] runs into the hundreds of dollars, minimum, and from a solid-state drive [SSD] you can multiply that by ten. And there’s a decent chance that recovery will not even be possible).

2. Ransomware – Everyone thinks “that can’t happen to me,” but the news indicates, repeatedly, that it absolutely can.

3. Malware of various sorts including viruses, worms, and more.
If you have a full system image backup, and are hit by any of the above, Byte-Able can restore your computer, exactly as it was at the moment you took the backup.

Think about how much time and stress that would save, and the peace of mind you have by knowing this can be done.

Threat actors have started distributing fake Windows 11 upgrade installers to users of Windows 10, tricking them into downloading and executing RedLine stealer malware.

The timing of the attacks coincides with the moment that Microsoft announced Windows 11's broad deployment phase, so the attackers were well-prepared for this move and waited for the right moment to maximize their operation's success.

FULL STORY HERE -
