With GTA 6 right around the corner, now is the perfect time to get that console deep cleaned or repaired in time for your time spent in Vice City. This game is going to push the current generation consoles to their limits and a dusty old console with old thermal paste or liquid metal dry spots just isn't going to cut it.

Get in touch today and organise to get your console GTA 6 ready! FixMyTech Repairs will be closed for the week of the GTA 6 release, so don't hold out too long.

Is your Nintendo Switch gathering dust or just losing your interest? Breathe new life into your old console with a modchip. This allows you to completely unlock the capabilities of the unit to allow you to do everything you want, instead of just what Nintendo wants you to do. From running game backups and emulating all your old consoles like N64 and PS1, to custom themes and mods that completely overhaul your experience on the console.

If any of this sounds interesting to you, get in touch with us today and we can organise to have a modchip installed on your console straight away.

Please note that an SD card is required to be provided with the console for the modchip to function properly. Also this will not work with the Nintendo Switch 2 as there are currently no public exploits for those, so it is restricted to just the Nintendo Switch, Lite and OLED consoles.

Another successful repair on this Meta Quest 3S VR headset that had been tossed around a few too many times. It's always nice to see tech like this brought back to life instead of being tossed out.

This poor DJI drone had crashed and damaged the camera, requiring the entire camera mechanism to be replaced. After getting the replacement camera installed, the drone is back in working order and ready to fly over your back yard and linger a little too long.

If you have one of these drones, I suggest you don't crash it because these parts certainly aren't cheap. Or just go ahead and crash it if you like, it's your drone to do as you want with.

This here is a human, the same one who writes all these posts, fixes all your tech and spends time hand crafting the flyers and designs you see used around this business space.

In a world of AI slop and low effort generated text, I try to make sure that the human side of FixMyTech Repairs is felt both in store and in these posts, even if that means my mediocre design skills in Illustrator are put on show to the world.

With that said, I wanted to make this post to thank everyone who has come to the shop so far and showed their support for my business and made me feel like a human, something I have very rarely had the opportunity to experience while working jobs within a society that values profits above any individual human life. All of this support has made me very thankful that I took a huge risk and made the leap into starting my own business and I am really looking forward to growing it even more to be somewhere that people can trust they are able to go and not be taken advantage of or treated like another opportunity to increase numbers and KPIs.

Anyway, I could ramble on all day about these things, but I will cut it off there and just say thanks again to everyone who has come to the shop so far and shown your support! If you want to hear me ramble some more, stop by the shop and I will happily oblige. 💖

We love to see the classic consoles coming into the shop! I always forget to take photos of them when they come in as I am usually too keen to start working on them, but the camera came out for this old Xbox when it came in for a full capacitor replacement. As you can see, full re-cap jobs are quite substantial and I like to be as organised as possible when tackling them.

It is quite common for old consoles and devices to have capacitors that fail and begin to leak corrosive fluid onto the board and start causing all sorts of issues, so it is best to get them all swapped out and have peace of mind knowing that the console will be good for another 20 years or so.

It is a great joy to us to know that we can help people bring their old tech back to life instead of tossing it out and contributing to the already staggering amounts of landfill created on this planet. It is our mission to try and get more people thinking about keeping their old tech alive and possibly how they can upgrade and improve what they already have before they think about going out and buying something brand new.

We may not be able to rescue every single device that is brought to us, but we will certainly try our best and give you the best advice that we can give.

If you are sitting on anything that you think may have a chance at being repaired, bring it in and have a chat and we can let you know what the next steps would be to bringing your devices back to life.

Every single PS5 that I get coming into the store has a varying level of liquid metal dry spot on the APU, but this latest one is probably the worst case I have seen. The APU is essentially the main brain of your console and with all that processing power, it generates a lot of heat which would normally be dissipated away from the chip using the liquid metal, but these dry spots mean that the console isn't able to transfer heat properly and will cause it to overheat and eventually start giving you issues like crashing and performance troubles.

If you have owned your PS5 for a while and have never had the liquid metal checked out, it is probably worthwhile getting it sorted before it gets to a state like this where it starts causing you trouble.

With the price of modern video game consoles skyrocketing lately, now is a better time than ever to get your broken HDMI port repaired rather than just replacing the console itself.

Our console repairs also cover all other issues as well, not to mention the fact that we also repair any and all low voltage electronics (as long as they will fit on the work bench) so feel free to get in touch and let us get your tech back into operation.
