🚨 Heads up, Microsoft 365 users in Australia!

The ACCC has taken Microsoft to court for allegedly misleading around 2.7 million Aussies about their 365 subscriptions.

Here’s the short version 👇

💻 Microsoft told subscribers they had two options:
1️⃣ Accept Copilot (the new AI tool) + pay more
2️⃣ Cancel the subscription

❗But the ACCC says there was a third option Microsoft didn’t make clear — a “Classic” version of 365 without Copilot at the old, cheaper price.

💰 Prices jumped big time:

Personal plan: $109 → $159

Family plan: $139 → $179

The ACCC claims this may have stopped people from making an informed choice — something that’s a big no-no under consumer law.

⚖️ The regulator is now seeking penalties and refunds for affected customers. Microsoft says it’s reviewing the claims.

✅ What you can do:

Check your renewal plan and price

See if you were automatically upgraded to the Copilot version

Look for the “Classic” plan option if you prefer to stay AI-free

Keep any emails or notices from Microsoft about the change

We’ve commenced proceedings in the Federal Court against Microsoft Australia and its US-based parent company Microsoft Corporation for allegedly misleading approximately 2.7 million Australian customers when communicating subscription options and price increases, after it integrated its AI assistant, Copilot, into Microsoft 365 plans.

We’re concerned that Microsoft’s communications denied its customers the opportunity to make informed decisions about their subscription options.

Thank you to those who took the time to report their concerns to us - these consumer reports were important in establishing our investigation.

In addition to penalties and other orders, we’re seeking compensation for affected consumers.

🚀 Home internet glow-up complete!

We’ve just jumped on one of the new 2GB FTTP plans at home — and yep, we’re actually clocking over 2 gigabit speeds down. Totally unnecessary… but when you’ve got kids glued to the PlayStation, Mum and Dad working through the school holidays, and roughly eleventy million devices hanging off the Wi-Fi, its pretty bloody cool.
