"I need this translated for my university enrolment. The application window closes tomorrow. Can you please help?"

I still get messages like this.

An international student, just arrived in Australia, everything sorted except one thing. The university portal rejected her document. Needed a certified translation. 24 hours or her enrolment gets cancelled.

She found me at the last minute, recommended by a friend.

Here's what most people outside the industry don't realise.

For a professional translator or LSP, a single certified page is rarely worth the time it takes to process. The emails back and forth. The invoice. Waiting for payment to clear. The review. The formatting. Then actually doing the translation.

For one page, that's easily an hour of admin before you've earned a cent.

She needed it by 9am.

I still do these jobs, believe it or not. But I couldn't keep doing them with all that admin sitting on top. So I built a system that handles it. Automated intake, bilingual process, payment upfront. The job arrives in my queue already 95% done. No invoice chasing. No calls back and forth.

Urgent, single-page, tight deadline? Used to be a headache. Now it's a quick turnaround.

She had her certified translation before 7am.

This is the problem I've spent the last few years solving, for translators, LSPs and migration professionals who are tired of urgent low-value jobs eating their day.

I can show you how it works in under 15 minutes. Reach out here and let's talk.

Most AI translation tools are going to cause serious problems for the agencies using them.

We are not guessing. AcudocX is an AI-powered certified translation platform, and we have seen exactly how this plays out.

This photo was taken when AcudocX was only a year old. Dylan, our founder, and Natacha, now Operations Manager, were two practitioners doing the actual work. Neither thought they were building a software company. They were just solving problems no one else understood, because no one else had done this job.

Here is what they learned:

1. Full automation in certified translation is not a feature. It is a liability.
When a certified translation fails, someone has to answer for it. A fully automated pipeline has no one to answer for it.

2. The human reviewer is not a bottleneck. They are the product.
The credential, the stamp, the professional accountability: these are what the client is paying for. AcudocX is built so AI handles the volume and humans own the outcome.

3. The fastest growing agencies are not the most automated. They are the most systematic.
They use AI to remove low-value effort so expert linguists can focus on work that actually requires expert judgement.

4. There is a quality signal in your workflow that almost nobody is measuring.
How much does a human reviewer change an AI-generated translation? That gap tells you exactly how reliable your AI output actually is.

5. The "AI replaces translators" pitch is losing the clients that actually matter.
Institutional clients including immigration firms, legal practices, and government bodies want a documented, defensible, human-authorised process.

We built AcudocX in Australia, with the NAATI framework at the centre, from day one. It is now a global platform.

Human authority, AI efficiency. That was not a compromise. It was the design.

Q1 is done. Here is what surprised me most about building AcudocX in the US this quarter. (I've just returned to Aus and am already dreaming about those Rocky Mountain climbs.)

Taking our startup to the United States, setting up an office in Boulder, and dealing with all the complexities could be compared to the bike ride from Boulder to Brainard Lake. Challenging, to say the least, but once at the top you get to see glaciers.

Here are three things I didn't expect:

1. Local government representatives, especially in Denver, are proactive and genuinely keen to support Australian companies expanding into the US. Shout out to Vanessa Simsick and Stephanie Garnica from Denver Economic Development & Opportunity!

2. There are startup and entrepreneur events happening daily. Pick your tribe, attend regularly, and you will walk away with more connections than you know what to do with. Shout out to Colorado Startups!

3. A word of WARNING: the US is extraordinarily easy to get distracted in. The sheer scale of the culture, the events, the lifestyle, it can swallow your schedule whole if you let it. I've seen it happen. Reward yourself once the work is done, not before.

I used to ignore entire categories of translation requests.
Birth certificates, licences, marriage certificates, university credentials, police reports 😩.

As one of the top-ranked Thai into English translators in the world (on https://na2.hubs.ly/H04Kl2Z0 and across most global LSPs), a $10 personal document job just wasn't worth my time. The admin and invoicing alone cost more than the fee.

Then I became NAATI-certified. My name appeared on a public directory. And my phone didn't stop ringing 😨.

These weren't just inconvenient inquiries. Most of these people were new immigrants whose citizenship or visa applications were stalled because they didn't have the right certified translation. Fearing visa refusal, many would be in tears. It's a genuinely critical situation to be in.

I couldn't turn them away, so I created AcudocX.

Our first goal was to give freelancers back their time by automating the submission, processing and delivery of certified translations. Our second goal was to allow language service providers to automate this entire funnel. Both groups now just focus on sales and marketing to scale what was once painful and slow.

On AcudocX, countless businesses are now scaling through our software-as-a-service platform, running AdWords or Meta campaigns for a sizeable ROI.

Over the last two months, I've been genuinely excited to work on personal document translations again, as we've been preparing AcudocX 4.0 for release.

For me as a translator on the platform, most jobs are finished in under two minutes. For agencies, the first time they often know about a job is when Stripe tells them "you've been paid!"

After everything that led here, that never gets old.
