Aeroplanned and Smart Management Systems are delighted to announce a new collaboration designed to streamline the integration between their systems, enhancing the experience for their mutual customers.
Smart, an aviation management platform focused on streamlining the day-to-day flight operations, and Aeroplanned, a forecasting platform designed to help flight schools’ complete students on time and optimise
resource use, are simplifying customer workflows by enabling the synchronisation of student progress updates between their software systems through custom reports.

Ardmore Flying School(AFS) , use both systems and are thrilled with the collaboration. CEO Irene King stated, “This is integration is critical for the effective operation of our flight school – it ticks the boxes in so many areas:

Sunday night will see the biggest upgrade to dispatching we’ve ever made. We have completely rebuilt dispatching from the ground up to now include all events, not just flights. There is a lot of new permissions, settings, features and changes coming on Monday the 7th of August, let's take a look at some now.

It’s a new year and we have been busy getting straight back into it. This release sees the first part of the much anticipated recency system being introduced, as well as a raft of improvements and performance enhancements across the platform. Let’s dive in!

Recency Part One

We recently have made a series of updates to logbooks and flight returns to facilitate and allow for recency tracking. When returning flights you can now nominate which landings and instrument procedures should be awarded to which pilot, plus you can select the instrumentation used on the approach for approach recency requirements. Manual logbook entries have also had a bunch of tweaks allowing you to input landings, instrument procedures and more specific flight & aircraft information, all of which helps feed into your recency.

There is a new dashboard widget where you can view your personal recency and administrators can monitor recency across the organisation. Please make your organisation's “owner” aware that there is an upgrade pathway available on their dashboard only for how they can choose to implement this in the organisation. At the moment there is no enforcement of the recency on bookings or dispatches, this is intentional and to allow enough time for you to accumulate and enter enough data which can then be used to enforce recency requirements which will come in a future “Part Two” release.

View Weekly Roster

The roster widget has got a small update to now allow you (or administrators) to look at your weekly roster. You can also change the relative time input to look at past or future rosters if required.

Coming Soon

The team has been hard working on two main areas, the first is dispatches. We're currently expanding the dispatching system to cover all events in Smart, not just flights. We have been taking on your feedback and will be including dispatch authorisation and verification as well as a host of other tweaks and inclusions like SARTIME, checklists per event type and much more. This is a big one, and has a lot of moving parts so we can't promise a date, but we're working hard on it.

Next is notifications, right now the team is working on delivering the next level of notifications within Smart and also a cornerstone on the road to building the iOS & Android App announced at last year's Smart Summit. It will include a fully customisable notification centre where the organisation can select from all the notifications across the system and how they want them delivered, such as via email, push notification or maybe even SMS. There will also be the option to manually send notifications on bookings at any time, like at the end of the day.

There is also more than we can mention here, now that Version 3 has some runs on the board we have been making many under-the-hood performance optimisations to keep the system feeling responsive. What a finish to the year!

The ONLY flight school management platform that includes CASA and RAAus compliance as standard.

RAAus Support

Smart now supports RAAus! You can now pick RAAus as an Issuer for licences and medicals, including all ratings and endorsements. Administrators can also set your organisation to use RAAus as the Primary Regulatory Authority under Settings. We also know many organisations offer both CASA and RAAus training, more on that below.

Aircraft Level Regulators

Now you can set which regulator each individual aircraft uses. It will default to the Primary Regulatory Authority for the organisation, but for those who offer mixed fleets & training like both CASA and RAAus you can select what specific regulator that aircraft is under, and that will control the licence, medical and other regulator specific checks during booking and dispatching.

Student Progress Dashboard

The new Student Progress Dashboard brings something brand new to Smart - a fully interactive, full screen dashboard that allows you to see all your students across all your courses and how they are progressing lesson to lesson across the whole course. You can see how student intakes are progressing relative to each other, identify trends like lessons with consistent repeats across all students, see which students need additional help, all at a glance.

Students Dashboard

Press on any of the icons to open up that lesson record for that student. Press on any empty square to book that student for that lesson on the scheduler. Between this screen and the scheduler, you can access 90% of what you would need for almost any day. This dashboard has two modes, Single Monitor and Multi Monitor, for the power users in the room, you will love Multi Monitor mode, with the scheduler on one screen and this new Student dashboard on the other, when making new bookings, the dashboard will remotely control the scheduler rather than keep opening more and more tabs.

There are also different views to choose from, based on how you will use the dashboard. Operations view is designed to keep things simple, by cutting the noise to make scheduling easy. Compliance view shows more insights and data to allow you to extract trends, student performance, course progression, and other key metrics at a glance.

This marks our last release of new features for 2022. What a year it has been for everyone. We acknowledge everyone who has stuck with us and supported home grown software, helping Smart get to where it is thanks to your loyalty, feedback and support. We can’t wait for 2023, the iOS/Android App, and the list of new features we have lined up for you.

The new interactive Student Progress Dashboard, remote scheduler control, RAAus support, ability to run mixed-regulator fleets, all with Smart’s deep integration and compliance that the platform is known for across the industry, makes our platform unique and like no other.
