Stuck on what to post for your business?

Here’s a simple one: answer a customer question.

Think about something people ask you all the time.

“How much does it cost?”
“How long does it take?”
“Do you service my area?”
“What happens after I book?”
“What do I need to know before getting started?”

That question is your next post.

Use the question as your headline, then give a short, helpful answer in plain English.

You don’t need to overthink it. You don’t need to sound fancy. Just be helpful.

The best part is, if one person has asked it, there’s a good chance other people are wondering the same thing too.

Helpful posts build trust, show you know your stuff and make it easier for people to feel confident reaching out.

Quick tip: finish the post with a simple call to action like:

“Got a question? Send us a message.”

or

“Need help with this? Get in touch.”

✅ One of the easiest ways to build trust online is to simply show your face.

A lot of small businesses rely on logos, stock photos or just photos of the work, but adding a real photo of yourself or your team can make a big difference.

People want to know who they’re dealing with.
If someone lands on your website or page and sees a real person behind the business, it instantly makes things feel more genuine and trustworthy.

Even better if it’s:
• a photo of you
• your team
• your work vehicle
• or you on the job

It doesn’t need to be fancy. It just needs to feel real.
Small change. Big trust boost.

If you’ve been hiding behind a logo, this might be your sign to update your page.

Think of it like this:
Domain name = your street address.
Hosting = the block of land / house your website lives in.

Why do you need hosting?
• It keeps your website online.
• It helps with speed, security and updates.
• It gives your visitors a better experience.

A lot of business owners have heard the terms domain and hosting, but no one has really explained the difference.

As a rough guide here in Australia, hosting and site care plans often start from around $79 per month, depending on what’s included.

🤑 Here’s a quick way to potentially bring in more work without spending anything on ads.

Go back through your old enquiries and follow up with 5 people today.

Check your Facebook messages, emails, missed calls and any old quote requests. There’s a good chance someone was interested but got busy, forgot to reply or simply wasn’t ready at the time.

A simple message like this can be enough:

“Hey, just checking in to see if you still needed help with [service]. No pressure at all, I just wanted to follow up in case it slipped through the cracks.”

Keep it friendly and make it easy for them to reply.

You don’t always need more leads…Sometimes the next customer is already sitting in your inbox.

Bonus tip:
Start keeping a simple list of every enquiry you get and set a reminder to follow up after 2 days, 7 days and 30 days. That one little habit could turn a lot more enquiries into paying customers.

🛑 When was the last time you checked your Google Business Profile?

A lot of businesses set it up once and then forget about it, but it is often one of the first things a potential customer sees before they visit your website or give you a call.

Take five minutes today and check:

✅ Your opening hours are correct
✅ Your phone number still works
✅ Your website link goes to the right page
✅ You have a few recent photos
✅ You have replied to your latest reviews

Small updates like these help your business look active, trustworthy and professional.

💡Bonus tip:
Check the “Services” section and make sure it clearly lists what you actually offer. Be specific. Instead of just writing “landscaping”, you could include lawn mowing, hedging, garden clean-ups and acreage maintenance.

It makes it much easier for customers to quickly see whether you can help them.

Just got back from an incredible trip to Japan, and while the food, culture, and sights were amazing, one thing that really stood out to me was the design.

Everywhere I looked, there were beautiful graphics, creative signage, thoughtful layouts, and attention to detail. From tiny local shops to massive city displays, it was inspiring to see how much care goes into creating experiences that are both functional and visually appealing.

As a web designer, it reminded me that great design isn’t just about making something look good. It’s about creating something that connects with people, builds trust, and leaves a lasting impression.

Trips like this give me fresh ideas and a renewed motivation to keep learning, improving, and creating better websites for local businesses here in Bundaberg.
