Degraded Performance - International Backhaul Transit (SIN1 - Singapore / PER1 - Western Australia)

We have received notification that our backhaul carrier's primary link from Perth to Singapore is down. Investigations have been carried out by the sub-sea carrier (Indigo). Their OTDR testing has isolated the outage to the Indigo West cable system and identified a fault located between two sub-sea repeaters, approximately 725 km from Singapore. A response is now being coordinated by Indigo's Marine Team.

Traffic to our data centre (SIN1) in Singapore is flowing through alternate routes from Sydney via Guam to Asia and Sydney via US for all other traffic currently.

Users may notice degraded performance such as higher than usual pings and/or slower data speeds accessing content within Asia, however all systems are otherwise fully operational.

Further route optimisation will be undertaken where available.

A recent alert has been released by popular router manufacturer TP-Link in relation to a security flaw in two of it's router Models.

The TP-Link WR841N/ND and the TP-Link Archer C7 (both end of line) were a popular consumer grade router up until 2023/2024.

The security flaws identified allows vulnerable routers to be hacked and exploited to run code, enabling hackers to get access to Microsoft 365 accounts.

TP-Link has issued firmware updates for these devices, even though they are end-of-line.

Customers who use these routers are urged to check their router models by reading the manufacturer label. (Images of the routers are attached to this post). If a router is identified as the specified model, firmware update is strongly advised, however given the age of these routers, a replacement or upgraded router is an even better option where possible.

Here's an article from 'Malwarebytes' for those affected

When the service officially launces, nbn will offer LEO broadband services to more than 300,000 premises within the current satellite footprint, which will be accessible via participating Retail Service Provides such us AUS Internet.

Speed tiers and pricing have not yet been announced, however what we do know is that customers with a fixed address premises within the current nbn Satellite Footprint on an active SkyMuster service will be provided installation of the new LEO product at no cost by an approved nbn technician.

The existing Sky Muster satellites are expected to remain viable and operational until approximately 2032
