Close to nine years at Centrered and Dom has seen just about everything. As Service Delivery Manager, his focus is twofold: making sure the Managed Services Team has the support and room to grow, and making sure clients are always receiving the best possible service.

His number one IT tip? When something goes wrong, try rebooting first, it solves the problem about a third of the time.

Outside of work, Dom is a regular at the gym and plays AFL in the Canberra league, which keeps him busy most evenings and weekends throughout the season.

Quick cyber security upgrade for your business: switch from passwords to passphrases.

A passphrase is a string of four or more random words, like "crystal onion clay pretzel". They are easier for you to remember and much harder for cybercriminals to crack.

A few rules from the Australian Cyber Security Centre:
▪️Use at least four random, unrelated words
▪️Make each passphrase unique, never reuse one across accounts
▪️For accounts you do not log into often, store passphrases in a password manager so you do not have to remember them all

It is one of the simplest changes you can make and it costs nothing.

The Australian Cyber Security Centre has put together a small business cyber security checklist worth 10 minutes of your time.

Here are a few key steps:
✅Turn on multi-factor authentication, starting with email and banking
✅Turn on automatic software updates across all of your devices
✅Educate your employees on cyber security awareness

That is the foundation - free on most platforms, only an afternoon of work and it will stop the majority of incidents we see.

When Centrered started out in 1996, the Canberra workplace looked very different.

Most businesses ran on filing cabinets full of paper and a fax machine in the corner. "Working from home" meant taking a folder of documents with you.

Thirty years on, a Canberra business can run from a laptop in Braddon, a site office in Queanbeyan and a client meeting in Sydney, all in the same day. Secure cloud systems, Microsoft 365 and proper cyber security have changed what is possible for small and medium businesses.

Medium business: $97,200 (up 55%)
Large business: $202,700 (up 219%)
