Brand Personality — Young, Vessels & Objects

One of my favourite projects from late last year. Sydney-based ceramicist Emma Young creates beautifully textural vessels & objects — tactile pieces that feel both ancient and strangely contemporary at the same time. Every work carries its own quirks and character, so the identity needed to reflect that same sense of individuality, restraint and quiet confidence.

The typography became a huge part of the personality. A distinctive vertically stacked ‘YOUNG’ mark sits alongside the cleaner, more refined Vessels + Objects type treatment — creating this really nice tension between sculptural boldness and gallery-like sophistication.

Tall, grounded and slightly unconventional in all the right ways. The type almost behaves like one of Emma’s vessels itself. Such a delightful client. Please go and check out Emma’s work

Possibly a world first (and last) — whatever it was, it was certainly fun. Thanks again to the impressive (sir), to Dame Tracey Naughton and to you my friends and members of the public that sat, listened and endured me ramble on about drying dishes for 20 minutes. Who knew…
