Your patient has been reaching for the blue puffer for years and thinks their asthma is under control. National Asthma Week is a good week to reopen that conversation.
The National Asthma Council Australia's Australian Asthma Handbook guidelines now recommend anti-inflammatory reliever (AIR) therapy as starting treatment for adults and adolescents, with maintenance-and-reliever therapy (MART) for ongoing management.
We've worked with the National Asthma Council Australia on a collection of free CPD that covers what those changes look like in practice, from diagnosis and spirometry through to paediatric asthma and how the pharmacist, GP and nurse hand a patient between them.
And the learning continues TONIGHT with 'Reshaping Asthma Management in Children', with a live Q&A.
🗓️ Tonight, Thursday 3 September, 7:30-9:00pm AEST
🎯 CPD: 1.5 hrs EA (RACGP)

It's National Asthma Week (1-7 September)!
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory lung condition that affects the airways, even when symptoms seem mild.
That’s why the updated National Asthma Council Australian Asthma Handbook guidelines recommend that people aged 12 years+ with asthma use an anti-inflammatory reliever (AIR), a different type of quick relief medicine, rather than relying on a blue puffer alone.
Treat the inflammation, not just the symptoms.
