This is Megan, Marks wife.
Just giving you all an update.
Not much progress to report, unfortunately until the next surgery there may be no improvements we have a date in September for neurosurgeon in Hobart.
This is for legs, lower back, surgery.
Also waiting for another mri in 3 weeks on back of neck. If swelling has reduced he will head back to Hobart for back of neck surgery, date to be set for this.
Mark is able to use a walking frame to get up and is doing physio to not loose his strenght in the parts of his body that is not being used.
Being a lefty is hard to re train yourself to use your right hand.
He has movement in both hands just not much strenght. He is not aloud to lift anything heavier than a 2 litre milk carton at this stage.
No feeling on right side, under arm, and foot.
Left leg still swollen they can not find the reason for this. He has had ultrasound to make sure no blood clots,
They have said this week they believe this is due to the lower back compression.
He is allowed home during the day if I am here with him, this makes it hard as I work full time, but we are juggling this. Today he is coming home for a few hrs.
We have to have OT clear come do an assessment on the home.
Need to arrange equipment and possibly a carer for when I'm not here.
It sure has been one hell of a ride since the 5th may, what may simply have been a slip down some stairs at work, has turned our lives upside down.
Our friends/family and marks clients have been wonderful in understanding our currently suituation, and we thank you for that.
Thank you for ur understanding, till my next update. Be safe
Megan Tyler
