The end of Windows 10 is upon us.
Starting from October 14 (just next week!), Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates or support from Microsoft.
This means that continued use of Windows 10 computers on the internet will become increasingly unsafe.
So - what this means is you will have to upgrade your computer to Windows 11 by then - if it is compatible.
The compatibility rules are quite strict, based around age of CPU (roughly no more than 5-6 years old) and other specific hardware inclusions.
To check if your PC is Windows 11 compatible, you can use the PC Health check app from Microsoft:

If your PC does not meet these requirements. what can you do?
1. Ideally it is time to replace your computer with either a new one, or at least one that IS Windows 11 compatible - Ask us today!
2. It may be possible (in the case of a desktop PC) to upgrade certain components to make it compatible - however in most cases this will be very close to the cost of replacing the whole thing. We can check and quote this for you in store.
3. Microsoft is providing a time based 'Extended support' option for Windows 10 computers that can't be immediately replaced. You may get this for free initially, or you may have to pay for the extension, depending on your PC configuration. Note - this is a stop gap option only, and will increase in price dramatically as time goes on - We can help you check for this.
If you are unsure if this affects you, or what is the right option for you, we are always here to help.
We do as always, have new Desktop PCs, Laptops and PC upgrade packages ready to go - to get you onboard with these changes, and have you up and running safely very quickly.
But PLEASE do not ignore this - using an insecure computer on the internet is incredibly dangerous and you risk exposing your entire home or workplace to cyber security threats by providing an 'open door' to your network.
