QR scam awareness or "quishing"

Scam awareness for QR codes, known as "quishing," involves recognizing when a legitimate code has been replaced with a malicious one that leads to fake websites, installs malware, or tricks you into providing personal or financial information.

Scammers can place fake QR codes that lead to fraudulent websites designed to steal login credentials, personal information, or financial data. 

Scanning a malicious QR code can initiate the download of harmful apps, which can compromise your device and data

A QR code might be designed to direct your payment to a scammer's account instead of the intended legitimate one. 

Only scan QR codes from trusted and confirmed sources. 

Most modern phones can preview the destination URL of a QR code before you open it; use this feature to check for inconsistencies. 

If you receive a QR code in an email or message, don't scan it. Instead, navigate directly to the company's website through your browser.

September is recycle your laptop month. We're putting the call out ahead of time for old laptops, working or not working to recycle.

If they can run windows 11, we can refurbish them for locals who may not be able to afford a new laptop.

If they are past their use by date, we'll dismantle them and dispose of e-waste properly so it doesn't end up in landfill.

For all windows 11 users, most of you will be aware that support for the OS will end in October. It's important that you upgrade your machine to Windows 11 if possible
If you're using a device that cannot upgrade to windows 11, you will find that you will encounter issues loading browsers and running programs over time. It will become unsafe for your personal data on the internet.
