My city is devastated- we have moved from the worlds most livable to the most locked down city in the world in 18 months. Police/Militia are currently violently arresting anyone in the City dressed in safety gear.
The Government, a left of centre one, has failed to protect its people.
Today we have a kaki militia carrying flash grenades, knives, machin pistols throwing people to the ground and running at pedestrians to stop them helping.
Our old pale blue clothed friendly cops are now dressed in black Stasi like uniforms who hit first ask questions later.
Having a Westminster style of Govt the executive and the judiciary are meant to be independent from each other.
Now our police take orders from the Premier directly.
Fines for breaching Covid emergency laws are discriminatory- if you are white Christian or Jew you cop it but if you are from another group which Labor is targeting for votes the cops turn away.
It is sickening.
It gets worse.
Our business events industry was told by the state treasurer that is is not an industry and would not get help.
A $12billion industry employing some 75,000 skilled technicians!
Our treasurer’s view is that small business is simply a pariah.
Instead the Government is spending millions on drug dens in our city and in residential areas.
Our great city of Melbourne is lost.
I weep for thee.

I bet you know "Big cheeks", but didn't know you did.

Big cheeks. A grandson of slaves, a boy was born in a poor neighbourhood of New Orleans known as the "Back of Town."
His father abandoned the family when the child was an infant.
His mother became a pr******te and the boy and his sister had to live with their grandmother.
Early in life, he proved to be gifted for music and with three other kids he sang in the streets of New Orleans.
His first gains were coins that were thrown to them.

A Jewish family, Karnofsky, who had emigrated from Lithuania to the USA, had pity for the 7-year-old boy and brought him into their home, initially giving 'work' in the house, to feed this hungry child.
There he remained and slept in this Jewish family's home where, for the first time in his life, he was treated with kindness and tenderness.
When he went to bed, Mrs. Karnovsky sang him a Russian lullaby that he would sing with her.
Later, he learned to sing and play several Russian and Jewish songs.
Over time, this boy became the adopted son of this family.
The Karnofskys gave him money to buy his first musical instrument; as was the custom in the Jewish families.
They sincerely admired his musical talent. Later, when he became a professional musician and composer, he used these Jewish melodies in compositions, such as St. James Infirmary and Go Down Moses.

The little black boy grew up and wrote a book about this Jewish family who had adopted him in 1907.
In memory of this family and until the end of his life, he wore a Star of David and said that in this family, he had learned "how to live real life and determination."

You might recognize his name. This little boy was called: Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong.

Louis Armstrong proudly spoke fluent Yiddish. And "Satchmo" is Yiddish for "Big Cheeks".

And I'll bet you did not know any of this. We live and learn throughout the pandemic.

We all have had to be adaptable during the COVID-19 restrictions.
Board meetings have still been happening but changes have been instigated to accommodate Social Distancing requirements. Bigger spaces are required to meet in.

Customers are finding that our microphone systems work perfectly in these situations as they are really simple to set-up and operate. Participants can spread out safely and still hear each other perfectly because of built in speakers.

Good communication has never been more important and we are always ready to help.

Our mics work straight out of the box!

Just sent to me on LinkedIn - very relevant to all of us.
-----------
In theatre we have a tradition- whenever the theatre is empty we are always sure to leave one light on. Typically on a stand in the centre of the stage, this light is known as the ghost light. There are many stories about its origin- but it’s meaning is unmistakable.
It means though the theatre is empty, WE WILL RETURN. So here’s to us. The actors, the technicians, the directors, the carpenters, the designers, the dancers, the teachers, the students, the freelancers, those on tour, those at sea, the electricians, the stitchers, the makers, the stage managers.... THE ARTISTS. Many of us have taken big hits during this virus. Financial and emotional weights have come crashing down as our entire industry is reduced to nothing but a bunch of ghost lights. But those ghost lights are temporary place holders. They are a sign. We might be down now- but our passion, our creativity, our drive is still centre stage. We’ll be unplugging those ghost lights in no time. Until then- here’s a ghost light- to let the world know WE WILL BE BACK.
