- Scams: Nearly 600,000 Australians (2.7%)
- Identity theft: Over 220,000 Australians (1%)
- Online impersonation: Around 500,000 Australians (2.3%)
Australians lost more than $2 billion to scams in 2025. The biggest financial scams consisted with investment, payment redirection and romance scams.
The good news is scam rate is decreasing. But scammers are constantly changing their tactics.
