Lloydtech is delighted to announce the live launch of our new solution for cafes, restaurants, retail and hospitality – hungree.me !

https://hungree.me is a contactless, queue-busting, and integrated solution designed to provide fast, flexible and funky menu browsing, ordering and payment.

For venues it provides a fixed-cost way of streamlining service, aligning with existing retail and payment systems, and letting customers manage their ordering in-venue, on the road or through room-service.

Lloydtech is excited to partner with leading retail point of sale and eCommerce company CloudHQ4 and offers native direct integration with their Cloud POS service.

Big thanks along the way to:

Justin, Troy and Johnathan at CloudHQ4,

Kerri Valkova at https://valkova.com.au for her creative graphic design and concept ideas,

Isabella Riley (https://www.facebook.com/Isabella-Riley-243563942988646) for bringing hungree.me’s self-smashing-mascot ‘Angry’ Avo (and his helpful partner, Junior) to life,

and of course

My lovely wife Nicki of Mara Communications for designing and building the https://hungree.me website.

Contactless ordering with hungree.me gives you control over your menus, tables, take-away and payment methods, including options to feed orders directly into your in-venue point of sale system.

Another day another happy customer!

was out of luck - her Insta acct with thousands of followers had been knocked off the air with no access to recovery mail.

With the help of app support teams we got her back on the air with extra security and peace of mind (and a bit of background advice from while we were at it.)

Stripping down a MacBook Pro mid-2015 model to replace the battery.

Apple pack a lot into their chassis. There are over 25 steps to take to safely disassemble the device - pretty much every internal component and cable needs to be disconnected and removed. Then, the battery has to be unglued from the shell using acetone.

To add to the joy, the steps need to be RETRACED to reassemble the computer.

For some people, it’s the type of job that just feels like an endless chore. For other people, it’s their absolute dream job. Working in tech support isn’t for everyone, but if you’re the kind of person that is fascinated by wires and binary, there really isn’t anything better. There are p...

Take that, dodgy Mac.

Spontaneous power shutdowns and 350Gb of data? No worries.

Diagnosis? Overheating due to dirty fan and filter, and possibly loose RAM cards. Now humming* away nicely.

* Actually, turns out that Macbook Pros don't hum. They're disturbingly quiet.

Ever wondered what the inside of a 2012-series Pro looks like?

They are a beautifully assembled device. With the battery removed, clockwise from the top: track pad, 2.5” 750Gb hard drive, DVD drive, power button/speaker assembly, cooling fan, motherboard, battery cavity. RAM chips can be seen immediately below the track pad in the top centre of the motherboard.

That sinking feeling when you realise that there is a problem with the disk drive or memory card with your precious memories or vital work/study files... 🥺

Sometimes, storage devices simply fail. Often there are warning signs leading up to it. These can include a failure when reading or writing information, repetitive mechanical noises, reduced speed or your computer not always recognising when an external drive is plugged in.

Mechanical drives - like shoes, car brake pads and kitchen appliances - wear down over time. Solid state drives and USB sticks are also prone to failure.

The best move is to always keep at least one other copy of your data - say, a full copy of an external disc or duplication of your files - in a secure, cool, dry location. Use cloud storage where possible.

If your drive is failing, immediately copy all that you can from it. This applies to PCs, Macs, camera cards, gaming platforms, etc.

If it is suffering from advanced issues, then data and files *may* be able to be retrieved off them using specialist tools... but don’t leave it too late.

In these images - a diagnostic screen warning of the imminent failure of a 1Tb external drive, and Lloydtech running a recovery on two separate drives in an attempt to retrieve data from them.
