Consistent content that feeds into content has been at the core of Nomac Built rise in the digital space - where we're celebrating working with Zak and Tom for 1 year now 🎈

From charting a plan over a coffee at the dining table to full books and a growing team, we've loved seeing the growth of the Hobart building business and playing a small part in helping.

An interesting takeaway which we feel is so Tassie specific is how hyper-local both marketing and leads can be - with the guys having a strong focus on the Southern Tas (Kingston, Huon etc) regions paying dividends.

The photo and video content has helped not only kickstart the growth of their socials but provide something that can often get overlooked by new businesses - consistency.

Having a bank there ready to go and being able to use the media on socials, website, adverts etc has been invaluable in keeping things fresh and moving the needle.

With the foundations now set (no pun intended), really looking forward to what the next twelve months bring with a special thanks to Zak and Tom for their trust in what we do 🤝

A bit of a throwback, but a project still doing plenty of good: the Tasmanian Bike Collective 🚲

TasBC mentor and train young people through the medium of bikes, creating places for them to grow and build skills for life. We built their website a while back now, and it's great to see it still serving the community day in, day out.

Modern design that reflects their branding, paired with a backend that lets the team add and update content themselves without having to call us every time. Built well once, and it keeps on working.

We've since teamed up with Ant and the crew on the Bikes for Good site too, the collective's bike shop with a purpose. Good people doing good work, and we're proud to have played a part in both.

Thinking about using AI to pump out a stack of blog posts? 🤖

Google rolled out another spam update on 18 August, and it's aimed squarely at thin, mass-produced content. The kind of thing you get when AI churns out a dozen articles in an afternoon and nobody really checks them.

Here's the good news if you've been putting in the genuine effort: this works in your favour.

Google is getting better at spotting filler and better at rewarding genuine, local content with real insight behind it. Your own knowledge, your own stats, your own take on things. The stuff AI can't fake.

Dom from Wakeford Digital shares some insight: "There's certainly a role for AI, but pumping out junk articles at bulk just isn't it. Google rewards genuine input, personal insight and a local spin, so it's actually comforting to see it recognising that and rewarding the right approach."

So the message isn't "don't use AI".

It's use it to get good content out the door faster, not to do the thinking for you.

We see you Nomac Built sitting there as the AI search recommendation... 👀

Google's AI Overview has muscled its way to the top of the page, and is now on nearly half of all searches, up from around 15% a year ago.

So the big question for any business is simple: are you in it?

Search "build cost hobart 2026" and Nomac are featured as an example, right next to the AI Overview for one of the biggest questions their customers ask (which we'd say is not bad company to keep.)

That's the behind-the-scenes work doing its job, structuring content so both Google and its AI can understand it - and with AI search only getting bigger, that's a good spot to be in. Great to see it landing for the Tassie businesses we work with.

Tasmania's Seafood Festival wrapped up its very first year on the Hobart waterfront a while back, and what a debut it was 🦀

Three days down at Victoria Dock over the March long weekend: oyster shucking, tuna carving, chef demos, tastings, live music and a serious amount of fresh Tassie seafood. Free entry, a brilliant turnout, and a future events already in the works.

We got to play a small part in the build-up, producing the social campaign for the festival - taking that bold seafood artwork and bringing it to life as animated posts and adverts across Facebook and Instagram to build the buzz in the weeks beforehand.

Getting to add motion to a brand that colourful was a real bit of fun, and being part of a brand new event on our own doorstep even more so!

Your socials posts have been turning up in Google Search for years. You just had no way of seeing which ones... 🤳

That's changed.

Google has made platform properties available in Search Console globally, so you can connect your:
- Instagram
- TikTok
- X (Twitter) or
- YouTube account

What does this mean? You can now see the actual search terms leading people to that content, how often your posts appeared, and which ones are pulling traffic.

One thing to be clear on: this is search visibility, not in-app views. It won't tell you how a reel went on Instagram. It will tell you whether that reel is quietly bringing people in from Google.

Setup takes a couple of minutes if you're already using Search Console. We're switching it on across our managed clients this week, so the social content we produce gets measured on its search visibility too, not just platform engagement.

Full rundown and the setup steps here:

Google's new platform properties let you see how your Instagram, TikTok and YouTube content performs in Google Search. Here's what it means for local businesses, plus how to set it up.

Something "new" from us - we've launched a News page, and we're pretty chuffed with it! 🤓

We love keeping an eye on the wider web and digital space, and there's always something worth sharing; so this is where it lives now.

Think people asking AI instead of googling, Webflow making it easier to edit your own site, Google giving the nod to profiles that stay active. The kind of thing that's genuinely handy to know.

Our blog is still where we go deep. News is the lighter, more regular read to keep you in the loop. Have a browse: wakeforddigital.com.au/news

Happy Monday!

ICYMI: Nomac Built released a new project video recently 👀

Been epic to work with Zak, Tom and the rapidly growing team on all things digital over the past twelve months, including highlights of:

- from zero online presence to consistent organic leads
- page one SEO results for main keywords
- advert library to generate enquiries
- social media growth and consistent presence

With the foundation now established (no pun intended) we’re really excited to shift the growth into a snowball of momentum; however credit goes to Zak and Tom for the work that happens behind the scenes.

You started a blog a few years back, wrote three posts in a burst of enthusiasm, then let it quietly gather dust? You're note alone... 😅

The honest answer to whether blogging is still worth it in 2026 is yes, but not the way it was five years ago. It works best as one part of a wider strategy, feeding your social, your SEO and your existing audience all at once, rather than something you publish and just hope ranks.

Over a monday cup of coffee, we broke down where blogging actually fits for a Tassie small business this year (and also when your effort might be better spent elsewhere).

Is blogging still worth it in 2026? Where blogging fits for a Hobart small business alongside web design, SEO, social and AI, and when to focus your effort elsewhere.
