Part-Time Computer Technician

Ace Computer World is a proudly family-owned business that has been serving Ipswich and surrounding areas for over 26 years. We are looking for a Part-Time Computer Technician to join our team — with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position for the right person.

About the Role
This is initially starting at 20-25 hours per week (4-5 hours per day) and is a hands-on, varied position in a busy retail and service environment. You will be working in our Workshop and Retail Store based at Yamanto, assisting a wide range of customers — from young students to elderly clients who may require extra patience and care — as well as supporting our valued business customers.
While we are happy to provide further training, we would prefer someone who already has experience working in a computer service centre.

Key Responsibilities
• Diagnosing/troubleshooting and repairing desktops and laptops
• Virus removal, data recovery, and hardware upgrades
• Building custom desktop PCs (gaming and business systems)
• Assisting business clients with service and support
• Providing remote support via AnyDesk
• Answering phone enquiries and offering clear technical advice
• Assisting customers in-store with product sales and fittings
• Installing hardware and software for customers
Our workshop not only services customer repairs but also builds every desktop computer we sell — including custom gaming rigs and tailored business systems.

About You
• Previous experience in a computer repair/service centre preferred
• Strong knowledge of Windows systems, hardware diagnostics, and troubleshooting
• Experience building custom PCs
• Friendly, patient, and approachable personality
• Excellent communication skills (“good bedside manner”)
• Comfortable assisting elderly customers and explaining technical issues clearly
• Able to multitask between workshop jobs and customer enquiries
• Honest, reliable, and well-presented
Retail sales experience will be highly regarded, as you will occasionally assist customers in choosing and fitting the right products for their needs.
