🥳I would like to say a HUGE Thank you to all of your great customers over the past 10+ years. Today is our last day, so please come in and help clear out the final bits and pieces - Minimum of 50% of EVERYTHING!.
❤️ I purchased The Game Forge (GUF Launceston) around 8 years ago after I sustained a Head Injury in a Car Accident and was not able to practice as a Chartered Accountant. The shop was intended to act as rehab, and an antidepressant. It gave me a place to go each day, and a meaningful 'job' to do. Over the years, as I recovered I was able to take on more and more of a role in the shop (apologies to the staff). To the point that I was finally back to being able to undertake fulltime work about 12 months ago.
About 3 months ago I was invited to join the University of Tasmania in a role in their Tax Clinic, a service that provides FREE Tax and Accounting services to clients that are at risk, on a low income or otherwise in need. This service fills a crack that many people across all areas in Tasmania were falling through.
I am so pleased to be able to apply my knowledge and expertise in an area that is so clearly beneficial to the community. Unfortunately, I do not have time or the capacity to do both, and given that The Game Forge had achieved the ultimate goal of rehabilitating me back in to the workplace, it is now time to say Goodbye to the shop.
I would like to particularly shout out Jesse & Dale who (let's face it) were the heart and soul of the business! Thank you to you both! Your ability to cope with my lack of focus and memory is truly remarkable. I wish you all the best in all of your future endeavours. Also to Kate and the Kids, Thank you for all of your love and support over the years, particularly over the past 24 months as I fully ramped up to full time again. I would also like to thank Mark and Jim for all of your help with the shop over the years.
