Windows Pro and enterprise
Bitlocker is a security feature designed to prevent unauthorised access to data files on systems. Bitlocker is enabled by default when you install Win10 Pro. But it doesn't get activated until someone either manually saves the recovery key, you join a corporate domain, or you sign on with a MS account.
Please Keep a record of your keys. They can be found within you MS account ( if a MS account was used) or additionally it can be found in the control panel while the pc is running and logged into the administrator account.
Control panel - system and security - Bitlocker Drive encryption – back up your recovery key
When you activate Bitlocker it will prompt you to save the recovery key. Write it down, print it out, and save it to a flash drive, If your HDD fails there is no way of retrieving your data without that key. We have noticed a few computers that have come in where Bitlocker is enabled, and the customer had no idea that it had been.
To check and see if it has enabled itself on your pc go to:
Start menu , settings , update & security if its on your pc it will appear under windows insider program. Called drive encryption. Or look for bitlocker drive encryption in the control panel.
