iScape

iScape iScape can supply ALL your computer needs, PCs, Tablets, Laptops, Printers, Servers, Switches, Modems (ADSL & NBN). Our difference? Great Support !

iScape was founded by Peter Everitt and Stewart McKinnon in 2005. From this small start the company has grown rapidly. On 1 January 2008, iScape merged with Veltech Computer Services. Prior to the merger, John Vella and his team at Veltech had provided excellence in IT service and sales to the Mackay district for 13 years. The new combination of both teams further cements iScape’s unique position as the only point of call for all your IT needs.

We're excited to see our latest AI solution up and running at Tablelands sugar mill 🎉

Over the past few months, we've been working alongside QUT and the MSF team to develop an AI system that automatically recognises cane bin plate numbers when trucks arrive at the cane receival station.

It might sound like a simple task, but it's a vital part of the process.

As the truck enters the weighbridge, our AI system uses a live camera feed to identify the bin number, helping ensure each delivery is accurately matched to the correct grower for payment.

One of the challenges was making sure the system could perform reliably in a range of conditions. The AI has been trained to recognise bin numbers both during the day and in low-light conditions at night.

This project builds on the AI solutions we've delivered across the Mackay region, where we've successfully applied AI to loco and rail infrastructure. At Tablelands mill, we've expanded those capabilities to support road transport operations as well.

A big thank you to QUT and MSF who worked closely with our team, especially Rhys, Nick and Tom, throughout the testing and validation process. Together, we made sure the system was ready to go before the start of the crushing season.

The video below gives a behind-the-scenes look at the cane tipping process, while the images show the AI system successfully reading and identifying cane bin numbers.

By automating the capture of bin numbers and timestamps, this solution improves accuracy, and helps create a more efficient cane receival process for everyone involved.

Earlier this month, we celebrated Stewart’s birthday 🎉🍑

To mix things up, Stewart broke away from tradition and introduced the team to peach balls and they were definitely a hit. Could peach balls become the new donut?

As the founder of iScape, Stewart has spent the past 20 years building not just a successful business, but a supportive, passionate and solutions-focused team that genuinely enjoys working together.

Happy Birthday Stewart, we hope you had a fantastic day and thank you for everything you do 🎂

ANZAC Day is a moment to reflect, remember and show our respect.

Across Australia, people come together to honour the service and sacrifice of those who have defended our country, past and present. It’s a legacy built on courage, endurance and a deep sense of duty.

Tomorrow we'll acknowledge that legacy and the freedom it has helped protect.

For a full list of service times and locations being held across our region on Saturday, 25 April 2026 visit www.mackay.qld.gov.au/anzacday

Lest we forget.

Meet Jerome.

Jerome has officially joined the team as a Junior Software Developer.

After completing a double degree in IT and Music, Jerome’s no stranger to iScape. He’s spent the last four years working with us during uni breaks, contributing to some seriously cool projects, including our AI-powered sales app that recognises customers on arrival, and a smart QR code system with dynamically linked URLs.

We’re keen to have him on board full-time.

Fun fact: Jerome is Josh’s younger brother and Josh is looking forward to being his boss both at work and at home 😄

It's wonderful to have a family connection with both Josh and Jerome working on projects together at iScape.

Welcome to the team Jerome🎉

Business as usual for iScape

The building we lease at 8 Evans Avenue, North Mackay has been listed for sale by the property owners.

This relates only to the ownership of the building and does not affect our business operations in any way.

Our team will continue delivering the same reliable business IT solutions and support from the same location.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

Thanks as always for your ongoing support.

We celebrated Nick’s birthday the iScape way…with donuts 🤩

Nick joined us in 2023 as a Junior Software Developer and has quickly become our go-to for designing responsive user interfaces and solving tricky usability challenges across our projects.

Happy birthday Nick - we hope you had a great day 🎉

Recently, members of the iScape team travelled to Tully and the Atherton Tablelands as part of an exciting new sugar industry project we’re working on in partnership with Queensland University of Technology.

The project, BinSights, is an electronic consignment and bin tracking system designed to improve visibility and efficiency across the cane supply chain.

During the trip, our team met with cane supply groups and mill staff to discuss the implementation and trialing of the BinSights application ahead of the 2026 crushing season.

Building on our previous sugar industry work tracking bins through weighbridges, BinSights will expand process visibility even further. The system will track empty bins travelling from the mill to cane railway sidings and truck pads, and full bins returning from the sidings and pads back to the mill, helping improve coordination and data accuracy across operations.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to speak directly with the teams who will be using the system and gather insights to ensure the software supports real operational needs in the field.

Leading the project is Rhys, one of our Senior Software Developers who recently relocated from Wales. This trip was his first visit to North Queensland. While Rhys is no stranger to heavy rainfall, the North Queensland humidity was definitely a new experience.

Rhys was joined by iScape Managing Director Stewart, with the pair visiting local mills and working closely with the cane supply teams to prepare for this season’s rollout.

And of course, while in the region we couldn’t resist doing a little sightseeing. The team made a stop at one of the area’s most iconic attractions, the Golden Gumboot in Tully.

As iScape continues to grow and deliver specialised software solutions for the Australian sugar industry, projects like BinSights highlight the importance of collaborating closely with industry partners and the people on the ground who keep the mills running.

We recently celebrated Andrew’s birthday with a chocolate cake.

Kidding, we had donuts. It’s basically company policy at this point.

Andrew has been with iScape since 2007, leading the development of major software projects and mentoring the team along the way. As our Director and Principal Software Developer, he architects enterprise-grade systems, manages platforms like Prompts and Masterbeef, and keeps sprint management running smoothly.

We appreciate everything you do for the team.

Happy Birthday, Andrew🎉

We’ve had two university students, Jerome and Lyndsay, joining the iScape team for a four week work experience placement, working on a real world AI project for one of our clients.

Jerome, a recent university graduate, and Lyndsay, currently completing his undergraduate studies, have been tasked with developing an AI recognition system designed to improve a customer sales process by automatically capturing key interactions and time based events.

The project is being overseen by Tom, who is sharing his experience from previous AI work, including the successful cane bin tracking models, and helping guide the team as they apply that knowledge to a new problem.

What are they working on?

The system focuses on automating a process that is currently done manually, where staff record activity throughout the day and managers later review this information to identify improvement opportunities.

By using AI models trained across multiple cameras, the system can automatically collect consistent data and generate reports that help answer questions such as:

• How long it takes before customers are assisted
• Whether key engagement steps occurred
• Where gaps or missed opportunities may exist
• How the overall process can be improved

The goal is to reduce manual admin, improve data accuracy, and provide clearer insights that support better customer experiences and more efficient operations.

It’s been great to see Jerome and Lyndsay applying their studies to a real life business problem and experiencing how software and AI can be used to solve practical process challenges.

We’re looking forward to seeing how the project continues to develop over the coming weeks.
