“Hey—are you still seeing nutrition clients?”

That’s what landed in one of my Performance Prescription client’s inbox after she updated the copy on her site to focus on clinical supervision.

Cue the second-guessing 🤔

Did she pivot too fast? Should she be turning people away?

Actually…yes.

Intentionally.

Her new copy was doing *exactly* what it should:
✨ Saying this is what I do now
✨ Making more space for work that felt aligned
✨ Letting go of what no longer lit her up

And the best part?

The people who *really* wanted nutrition support still reached out. But she could decide who and how much to take on.

Because when your copy is clear, your website can perform more of that client liaison role—setting expectations, filtering leads, and making it easy for those perfect-fit people to say “yes” and gently saying “no” to the people who are a better fit for someone else.

You want your website to say no for you, so you’ve got more time and energy for all the yes-es.

I love drooling over a beautiful-looking website as much as anyone—but it’s a BIG reason it took me over a year to get my site out into the world.

I’d spot a new website trend and think; “That’s it! That’s the look I want!” only to fall for something else equally as hard a month later and want to throw everything out the window and start again.

Yes, keeping up with design trends can bring that fresh, eye-catching, ‘ahead of the curve’ vibe…but if your site *only* leans on aesthetics, you’ll be itching for a redesign the minute the internet swoons over something else.

Truth is, that ‘perfect’ colour palette or headline font won’t do much if your site’s missing smart SEO to help people find you, a clear path for visitors to move through to get what they need and conversational copy to connect with them.

But if your heart’s set on a stylish AND effective site, you might be thinking: “Why not have both?”

But the unfolding TikTok ban in the US has got me dragging out my soapbox to say it again…

Taking a moment to celebrate one of my fab clients.

I launched a blog site for them on 5th June 2024.

By 21 June 2024, two of the blog posts they had written and optimised for SEO were ranking on Page 2 of Google.

Why is this a big deal?

〰️ This was a brand new site with no domain authority (domain authority influences if and where search engines will rank a page or post)

〰️ Typically, we don’t see an investment in SEO start ‘paying off’ for at least 3-6 months

My client is brand new to blogging and SEO but boldly embraced the steep learning curve and I’m so thrilled that their hard work is returning them big wins!

P.S. Volatility in rankings is also common for new content but I can report that both posts are still holding steady in their rankings a month later 💪

P.P.S. Here’s how to interpret the screenshots:

Rank = where the keyword is ranking in search results, so with 10 search results per page, 17 means spot 7 on Page 2. 20 means spot 10 on Page 2 etc.

The green number with the arrow illustrates how the keyword’s ranking has shifted since it was last checked

Volume = how many people are searching for the keyword on a monthly basis

Updated = the date the keyword ranking was last checked

If your first response is “Pardon me, what now?” - you are not alone.

Google’s reminders that they’re deleting all your Universal Analytics (UA) data on 1 July 2024, have been…scant…at best.

😱But there’s no need to panic —I’ve got you covered!

Here’s what you need to ask yourself before doing anything:
🔍 Do I have another analytics method in place? (like GA4, Fathom or Plausible)
🔍 Do I really need my old UA data? What am I going to use it for in future?
🔍 How far back do I want to go when saving my data?
🔍 Which information is most important for me to keep? (e.g. sessions, pageviews, source/medium, all pages etc.)

If you *do* want your UA data, I’ve put together a quick tutorial showing for you (which should take you, max, 10 minutes).

In my tutorial, I show you:
1️⃣ How to manually export each report
2️⃣ How to automate the export to Google Sheets

Within a week of launching, the new Butter Digital website is already ranking for relevant keywords 🥳

OK, they’re not huge numbers (yet!), but it means the strategic and coordinated approach I take when combining SEO, copywriting and website design is on the right track.

P.S. It’s the same approach I use for my clients’ website projects.

Because when you’re investing in a website, you want it showing up in front of people when they’re Googling - not gathering dust in the depths of search engines.
