Automatic Upgrades to Windows 10 without approval on Windows 7 or Windows 8 machines have been reported by many on the Internet now. Users will still have the option to cancel the upgrade if it happens to them, but it is disconcerting to see that Microsoft has stopped to a new low to increase Windows 10 uptake numbers.

If you're one of those afflicted with this, you'll need to go into Windows Update (in your computer's Control Panel, or just do type "Windows Update" after clicking on the Start button) and uncheck the update "KB 3035583". That's the offending update that starts the WIndows 10 update without permission.

It's a sad fact that if we continue to use these obsolete copper lines, we won't be able to make full use of the speed available with optic fibres.
