📧 “YOU’VE GOT MAIL” 📧 When it comes to email marketing effectiveness, the catchiness of your subject title holds the ‘Open Sesame’. No matter how good your content is, the wrong subject title could send your email straight to the unread subscription inbox pile.
Tips for an attention-grabbing subject title:
📧 Be CRYSTAL clear: Like trailers for action hero movies, give them excitement up front. Tell subscribers exactly what they’ll find in the email and don't rely too heavily on vague, abstract copy (a little intrigue is OK). There shouldn’t be any room for misunderstanding.
📧 Keep it SHORT: Mobile email services begin cutting off subject lines after 55-70 characters, so make sure you stay roughly under that maximum character count for optimum message clarity.
📧 Click-ability over clickbait: Don’t oversell - open rates are effective when subscribers are anticipating your call-to-action as they read your content, not be misled to a let-down.
📧 Ask questions: Want to engage your readers? Studies have shown that subject lines phrased as a question tend to be more attention-grabbing.
📧 All About the A/B : Test, test and test some more. Including questions are also a great way to get an understanding of what your audience resonates with. This could be a tricky ongoing process, but once you work it out, your customers will look forward to receiving your mail!
