I still love this clever use of spot UV on the back of my business cards. Most of graphic designers tend to use it on logo or business name only, but in this case, the designer decided to overturn the traditional way, instead of spot varnishing the logo on matte cello, he suggested applying it to the whole surface but the logo.

After nearly a month working on the pre-press work, we finally finished a 736-page A4 book, the client sent over an email after receiving the delivery yesterday:

Ps. This job is only 50 copies, but it took us a month cause we went through every single page on computer as well as digital print. Little Pigs is not big, but we have the best team that is ready to go extra miles to make sure every job turns out perfect. :-)

A printer's life can be totally routine, taking similar cases day-in-day-out (low season), but it can also get totally crazy joggling print jobs for several events and conferences at the same that. Life is more like the latter in the past two months.

Good thing is, there are always some thoughtful clients who do not forget to send over something to make your day, such as today!

Little Pigs Printing has a new stock - the "Velvet" (the bottom one in the photo). It has a fine velvet hand feel, which makes it stand out from paper cards with a subtle quality. Suitable for simple design.

Why pigs? This is the most common question we got from time to time. Guess we like the good nature of pigs - they are indeed very smart animals, can be trained to do complicated jobs that some domestic dogs can't do.

For example, the smiley face on the left is the sales rep who just received great response from clients for the 5-star service, the angry one on the right is the factory manager when the sales rep gives great prices to client and overlooks how difficult the jobs are.

Well, apart from the usual paper printing, we do get some interesting items from time to time. For example, these ribbons to be used for award nominees (finalists).

Our client just sent this in, now the labels are on the actual products and the products are in the market now in Queensland!!

Spot varnish can be as subtle as this

Never waste any marketing opportunity! Even if all the info of your business can be squeezed into just one side of the card, you can still use the back to reinforce the impression, such as this card below.

Extremely simple design (white fonts against yellow background), but the way the designer decided to use spot varnish made it subtly impressive than just a normal card. (spot varnished logo only shows when the card is tilted)
