4 and a half years ago I transitioned from Graphic Design into Horticulture. As a result, over the years my drawing started to take a back seat to flowers.
Life also became increasingly busy with little people, study, our family wildlife work and operating a local art gallery .
Yesterday at my workplace we welcomed gorgeous Petrina Burrill from to host floral artistry workshops which I think gave me to kick in the pants I needed. As a beautiful gardener and colourful personality I have admired for years it was totally meant to be!
My socials used to be very greyscale as I have always preferred to work in graphite pencil. I started drawing flowers 20 years ago, in black a white, obsessed at capturing minute detail.
I am surrounded by vibrant colour every day and feel I am ready to start experimenting outside my comfort zone. As terrifying as it is to change my beloved safe greyscale in my 40's and a total perfectionist for structure and order, it may be interesting to see what creativity I can discover.
