The school board asks: 'How did our IT perform this term?'
If the principal gives a vague answer like, 'I think it went okay,' we have a problem.

School leaders should have a clear picture of their school's IT performance.
What the speed bumps are.
What's working well.
What's not.

The schools making confident technology decisions aren't always the best-funded.
They're the ones who can actually see what's happening across their infrastructure, security, and service delivery.

A Managed Services Agreement changes everything. Board questions get answered with confidence. IT issues are identified before they disrupt. Costs become predictable.

Our latest blog shows how a Managed Services Agreement can benefit your school.

Education is the third most targeted sector for cyberattacks, but most schools are defending themselves with corporate-focused solutions that don't fit how schools actually operate.

Our cybersecurity services are purpose-built for education.

Nearly 400 schools trust us because we understand education-specific risks that generic IT providers miss.

What's typically included in managed IT services for schools?

Managed IT services can vary, but common inclusions are:
→ IT infrastructure monitoring and maintenance
→ Helpdesk support for staff and students
→ Network security management
→ Cybersecurity solutions like firewalls and threat detection
→ Data backup and disaster recovery planning
→ Strategic IT planning and consulting

The key difference from break-fix arrangements? These services work proactively to prevent issues rather than reactively fixing them after they disrupt learning.

Sarah Armstrong-Smith, former Chief Security Advisor at Microsoft, argues that when it comes to cybersecurity, 'The most dangerous thing in your organisation is when we start to have apathy.'

When a staff member realises they've clicked something suspicious, speaking up immediately can contain the damage.
But disengagement and fear of blame can make them stay silent. Attackers get hours or days of access while the organisation has no idea there's a problem.

Thirty percent of insider threats are now deliberate actors who understand systems well enough to exploit them. But the conditions that allow cyber incidents often stem from cultural disengagement.

Yes, cybersecurity is about technology, but it's also a function of how organisations lead, communicate, and respond under pressure.

Less than 1% of Australian schools can confidently answer 'yes' to both of these questions:
Can you quickly detect a cyber incident?
Can you respond effectively when it happens?

The Victorian government school breach that recently exposed student data statewide should sound alarm bells for every school.
Education is the third most attractive sector for cyberattacks, but schools often lack the security resources of corporate organisations.

The schools that do minimise damage are the ones that catch threats fast and respond with a documented plan.
Here's what we've learned from the Victorian data breach and our recommendations to reduce your detection and response time.

Reactive IT maintenance is like only getting your car serviced after the engine light comes on.

By the time you notice the problem, it might already be doing damage.

Schools that schedule regular IT maintenance identify potential issues before they become problems.
They just catch failing hard drives, outdated security patches, and network bottlenecks before they disrupt a lesson or crash during exams.

You wouldn't wait for your engine to fail before servicing your car. Don't wait for systems to crash before maintaining your IT.

A leading AI researcher says Australia is 'dangerously unprepared' for AI.

UNSW's Toby Walsh has called for far stronger regulation to ensure that AI is deployed safely and ethically.

He points out that Canada has invested six times more in AI than Australia over five years. Singapore, with a quarter of our population, has invested fifteen times more.

The warning: 'We're about to supercharge the harms we saw with social media with an even more powerful and persuasive technology.'

AI is already being used in Australian schools. The goal for schools is to enact policies and regulations that allow for the responsible use of AI.

‣ Schools hold some of the most sensitive data there is.
A breach triggers mandatory notifications to OAIC, affected individuals, and potentially media. Serious breaches can even incur up to $2.5 million in penalties.

‣ If a cyberattack exposes a student's protected address (domestic violence situation, for example), you're not just dealing with data privacy violations; you're looking at negligence claims.

‣ Your insurance probably won't cover it. Most policies require demonstrated security controls. No controls means no coverage.

‣ Reputation damage can be major. Parents trust you with their children and their data. One publicised breach can impact enrolment and fundraising for years.
