79 Series & Caravan Power Upgrade

Upgrading alternators is some times necessary when charging sources are limited
In this case, increasing the solar on the caravan was not the best solution
Keeping in mind the way these customers travel and the places where they stay, shore power isnt a option to rely on

So we opted for more Dc-Dc charge and in this case the alternator needed to be upgraded to supply the chargers

What would you rather

Well the answer is simple

We are removing the 18 under-performing solar panels from this roof and replacing them with 5 250w panels, giving this cusomer more solar than before

Leak Testing During Solar Upgrades

When we do a solar upgrade, there a few things we need to do before the new panels go on.

After removing original the solar panels & mounting points we need to plug and seal off all the holes and cable entry points.
To confirm these points are water tight, we leak test the roof with a professional leak testing service

When we know the roof has passed, we can then go ahead and lay out the new cable ducting & mount the new solar array

Solar Controller Upgrade

The original controllers were really hard to decifer and inaccurate
We replaced these with a Victron Smart Solar 100/50 Mppt Solar controller so the customers could see exactly what the solar was doing

We added an external solar point through a Victron 100/30 Smart Solar Mppt controller

Upgraded the DC-DC charger to one that works and sized the cable to what it should be to run efficiently

Along with componet upgrades we resized the cabling to the main Bus bar, added more compartment air circulation and checked over the full system prior to these customers heading away an a big trip
