✨ Mission Time Consuming: Adding more cases and components ✨

Hello, and welcome back to another weekly update! This week, we’re diving into something that, admittedly, wouldn’t make a very interesting Tom Cruise movie. The unfortunate truth about building a business from the ground up is that it’s much more exciting to tell people about it than to actually do it. Exhibit A: my activities over the past week. 🛠️

If you’d kindly refer to image 2/2 (pausing to appreciate my hilarious meme 😂), you’ll see the current design for Adrift Computers’ case selection. You have to admit - it’s pretty snazzy 🎨. It’s intuitive, clean in design and, to top it off, every case has a unique description crafted by yours truly. ✍️

However, therein lies the problem. 💥

Yours truly has to:
- Find cases worthy of the prestigious Adrift Computers Case Collection (ACCC - patent not pending).
- Track down every dimension under the sun, including the ones manufacturers mysteriously try to hide.
- Use this information to determine compatible components.
- Finally, write a moderately entertaining description.

Personally, I’d much rather be making Adrift Computers memes. 😎

But in the end, the feeling you get from watching your business grow before your eyes is pretty special ✨. Sure, it’s grunt work, but it’s grunt work with visible results ✅. And when those results look this good, I can’t help but feel proud of what this team has achieved so far, and excited to see what comes next. 🚀

Thank you for reading Adrift Computers Weekly Update. The cogs are turning, and we’re getting closer to going live 🌐. We’re super excited to share this with the world, because we know we're going to save you a lot of time and money with the Adrift Algorithm. So don’t go anywhere - we’ll (probably) be back next week!

With love,
The Adrift Team ❤️

P.S. I have experimented with increased amount of emojis this week, let me know in the comments if it's a welcome addition or not 😊.

🔥 Weekly Update 🔥
✨ What the Heck is an API? ✨

Hello! We're back right on time (oh wait, it wasn’t on time... crud).
But that's OK because we're here with an EXHILARATING update on the progress of Adrift Computers- or, as I pitched it to the development team, "A view of web development through the eyes of an idiot" (aka me).

You see, my understanding of web development was that it was a little like Lego- or perhaps closer to poster design on Canva. You have all the pieces ready to go, you just whack them together as desired, and then bing bang boom (💥), you've got yourself a website, my friend.

Yeahhhhhhhh, not that simple.

The web development team is currently focused on integrating the shipping API. What the heck is that, you may ask? Don’t look at me- I’m still not entirely sure either. API stands for Application Programming Interface, which apparently has something to do with getting someone else’s software to talk to ours. Sounds simple (not). Then terms like tokens get thrown around, and I get lost very quickly. I build stuff, fix stuff, and write long-winded articles. I do not code.

But hey, Adrift Computers is a team, and there’s no "I" in "Team" (even though there is a "me"... classic Tay Tay Swift). Our web development team is working tirelessly on this apparently very complex process, just so YOU can know how much shipping will cost immediately. It truly boggles the mind how much effort goes into developing the software for the websites we use every day. It’s also a little humbling- and a reminder of why this never would have become a reality without the whole team.

Thankyou very much dear reader for taking the time to catch up on our little slice of heaven. We will be back (sometime, possibly next week) with the next update of ADRIFT COMPUTERS.

With Love
The Adrift Team ❤️

🔥WEEKLY UPDATE🔥
✨Why do hardware companies hate me?✨

While this is TECHNICALLY called the "weekly update," the chance of it being truly weekly is slim. Due to the nature of work, schedules, and, well, life, I'm sure it's perfectly understandable... right?

I digress.

To address the title: while this is supposed to be an update of sorts, I fear it is quickly going to become the place where my descent into madness is documented. You see, the backbone of Adrift Computers is the Adrift Algorithm—the magical gizmo that converts the apps and games you need your computer to run into the computer that can do just that (🎉woo🎉).

But I'm going to take you for a peek behind the curtain.

Like all great technological geniuses, my domain is the mighty spreadsheet. A handy-dandy solution for inputting and organizing a whole bunch of info, I could talk all day about how much I love spreadsheets. Unfortunately, the issue isn't spreadsheets but the muppet who has to input the data into them.

This aforementioned muppet (aka me) has to deal with hardware companies, who seem to take great delight in withholding very basic information that I very much need.

OK, [Redacted], I'm calling you out. (Yeah, I chickened out—what are you gonna do?) If your GPU requires a bracket to stop it from sagging, why don't you give me the length of said bracket? Otherwise, how are we supposed to know what size case is required to fit such a long GPU... WITH AN EVEN LONGER BRACKET??

MMMMMMMMMMMM.

I digress (again).

Dear hardware companies, information like component weight, packaging dimensions, and any extra dimensions is very important to us. If you could please include this information, that would be splendid. Thank you.

But realistically, isn't this why we exist? You see, we spend our precious time risking our sanity so you don't have to. We spend hours so you can spend seconds getting a computer you KNOW will work from day one for exactly what YOU need.

Because we're just cool like that. :)

If you're interested in what fresh horror dominates the coming week, come back, and it will (possibly) be documented here!

Thank you for reading.

With love,
The Adrift Team
