You know that email scams are getting more dangerous when a world-leading security expert gets sucked in. Accidentally leaked 16,000 subscriber names to a hacker.

An embarrassing thing for an expert, but full credit for being 100% up front about what happened.

Take outs from the article he's written on it:
1. Modern scams are convincing.
2. Get your IT support guy to train your staff (actually, that's our point, not Troy's).
3. Don't work when you're over-tired.
4. Let people know straight away if their data is compromised. (Troy did this properly).
5. Use password tools
6. Your email list is a target. Treat emails from MailChimp or Campaign Monitor with extreme caution.

This month, in a thriving Perth business, some vigilant anti-ransomware software did its job and detected a threat. Despite the alert, the company didn't act promptly.

Two weeks later, the ransomware struck, crippling servers and encrypting vital files. Exploiting a GRE tunnel, it then infiltrated another site, creating havoc anew.
