With Christmas coming up, now is a good time to consider a Flex 6000 series HF transceiver. These radios are by far the most functional and advanced HF ham transceivers on the market. Features such as; Brick wall filtering, top of the pile receiver specifications, intuitive to connect remote capability, the most comm ports available for connecting to apps and external equipment, multiple receivers (between 2 and 8 depending on model used), each able to route audio to separate applications independantly, multiple user access, allowing a multiplier operator to use the same radio with his own user interface to search and pounce during contests, completely independantly from the main operator (except for TX - which can only be used one at a time).
Our entry level radio is the 6400 which costs in the order of $3500. Our flag ship radio, the 6700 has 8 separate receivers, a 2m transverter O/P amongst some of its features and is around $12500.
Over the past 3 years, there has been monumental growth in features available to the 6000 series, all of which are made available to existing 6000 series users as they are developed. Features developed include; remote operation via FlexRadio's dedicated server, ability to access comm Ports and digital audio streams through the server, USB ports controlling local devices, spots applied to the Pan Adapter screen, improvements to the specifications of the radios, and the list goes on.
For those of you on a budget, second hand 6300 with ATU option installed for $2K and a near new 6400 with ATU about to become available (owner upgraded to a 6600) which will be on the market for $3000.
