JG3DP Hobby Printing - focussing on self design/modelling and functional prints I have 20 years experience in construction and 15 years in Environmental Health. Cheers

I enjoy designing and building projects that are tangible and that the end users can enjoy or gain some benefit from. 3D printing was always an interest so I dived into it at the recommendation of a good friend. It definitely is a steep learning curve but fortunately my basic CAD background helped with learning 3D modelling software. A lot of what I print is functional, although I do print toys an

d trinkets for the Grandkids. Ultimately this is a hobby for me and the only prints I aim to sell are those I have personally designed or hold software commercial licence to sell (Hueforge).

Gold has been cleaned and met with Mining Co this morning and sold what I didn't want even though the gold price has s**t itself. Kept about 40g's of some nice pieces including the big "seahorse" that will need to go back in the acid. Lost about 20g's in total after cleaning but still came out with 133g.

One of my faithful customers asked me last night if I could make a scale tray with a pourer to make it easy to weigh and pour the smaller nuggs into bottles etc after weighing so I modelled this and sent to print today as a tester. It was something I've also been wanting to stop losing the littlys but credit goes to Kieran for the motivation😄 Measures 76mm(W) x 76mm(L) x 28mm (H) with an effective internal of 70mm(W) x 70mm(L) x 25mm(H) and pourer measuring 15mm OD, 11mm ID x 25mm (L). Filleted internal so the nuggs slide into pourer and no lips to get caught on.

Printed in Sunlu HS Matte Black PETG supplied by the great crew at RAW3D Filament .

$10 each - $11 postage anywhere in Au.

What a trip out to the Patch!! Headed out Sun 10 solo this time as Jas was caravanning at Lucky Bay. Set up and had a couple hours spare so headed out to the patch to test out the new Coiltek Goldhawk 14 x 9 mono coil I treated myself to after our last trip. Now I am a bit of a sceptic on all the hype about aftermarket coils but this thing blew all sceptimism away in the short 2 hour stint. Same ground that had been over 5 times with our other coils – pulled 1.8g’s straight up – nearly half paid off.

Monday back over the same ground, another 20g’s - a $4k day. Coil and trip paid for and some profit – nice.

Tues my lower left back fully cramped and I could barely get up/down or walk BUT after 9 Panadol, 9 Nurofen and a longer lunch break was back at it.

On Wed the old saying was nagging me – never leave gold to find gold so I decided to test our theory – prickly gold = close to the source. So I started benching out the patch – removing the top 300mm of dirt, detecting it and then detecting the fresh ground and extra depth. This led to some decent nugs and a substantial hole – I called the spa hole. The ground below was hardpack mud/clay and heavy going on the big mattock/pick. Fair work out. By Saturday I had 40g’s - over an ounce!

Then came Sunday, got a soft target on the west end of patch, I started digging, it started getting louder – I was pulling consistent gold but it kept screaming – deeper!! By 4:30pm I’d gone around 500mm down and still screaming! Knock off time – it'll be there in the morning, it’ s been there for millions of years what’s 12 hours. Up to this point I had 146 nuggets, although some were flys**t so nugget is very generous in description.

So Monday back to the hole thinking it’ll be out in a minute, hit 600mm and still pulling good gold then the big one came out – big for me anyway – a beautiful spikey 17g nugget I call the seahorse. So glad the pick didn’t hit it. Anyway on that day I ended up pulling 83.83g’s!! As much as our last trip total in a day!! Trip total stood at 136g’s - a cool $27,800. With a week to go anything was possible on the patch.

Tues I pulled another 3g’s out, Wed another 2g’s, Thurs another 4g’s, Fri another 3.5g’s. Late Fri and most of Sat the plan was start filling the “hole” back in – I'm guessing approx 6m3 of soil to go back in. No big deal I filled our pool in - 26m3 in 2 days. So the plan was to fill around 50-100mm, detect it and repeat. I knew they’d be gold I missed as some nugs were wrapped inside clay rocks, were small and if orientated the wrong way the first time just got missed. By the time the hole was filled I retrieved another 2g’s.

Late Saturday I packed down and got ready for the 9 hour drive home starting at 4am and calling in for the required Kalgoorlie Macca’s brekky.

The weather was cherry ripe all week, bar the last Friday – windy with some rain, a bit fresh in the mornings and the fly numbers low. I did get the obligatory visit from Mr Crow who didn’t get into my bin bag BUT did steal my bar of soap I had sitting on the shower tree branch!!

The trip total 152.47g’s of WA’s finest – albeit dirty and a few grams will be lost I don’t ever recall being paid $31k to dig a hole in 2 weeks and I’ve dug quite a few holes in my time.

I’ll get the trip vid together over the next week or so – of course the cam failed the day the big one came out OR maybe I was that excited I forgot to press record??

Anyway me and the Bro will be heading back out in 2.5 weeks for another dig adventure.

G'day Guys & Girls - well I'm pretty stoked to have finalised the Milwaukee M18 Starlink Mini bracket!! Printed in Sunlu Black Matte PETG supplied by my friends at RAW3D Filament this print is slick.

Some info for you all -

Fitted with low-voltage cut off switch set at 15.2 volts. This is the approx voltage a M18 tool will tell the battery to shut down as the M18 battery does not have built in BMS.

I have added the on/off switch and green LED as the low-voltage module has parasitic voltage draw once the Starlink Mini is turned off. The reason being it requires some power to check the return voltage (turn back on). In practice it seems to draw approx 0.2-0.5V/hour after the 15.2v cut off is met. I tested solid state style cut off modules but they still had parasitic draw and are manually tuned. For more information watch my video which explains it all.

The crux of it is - at 15.2V the cut off will stop power to your Starlink Mini and the green LED will turn off. At that point just switch the switch to off and the system will not draw any additional power.

All units will be pre-programmed to cut-off at 15.2V and turn back on where a 1.5V increase is detected (fresh/recharged battery). I have a detailed instruction/programming sheet that will be supplied on purchase.

In the field I have seen the 5Ah battery stream video and surf the net for approx 4-4.5hrs and the 3Ah approx 3-3.5hrs.

Definitely watch my video - it's not a cinematic masterpiece but you know, low overheads lol

These are available for $75 plus $11 postage anywhere in Aust.

Just a heads up I will be heading back out prospecting Sun 10th May for 2 weeks so printing will cease at that time.

Cheers punters

A fellow prospector had an idea a few days ago. A quick remodel of my existing visor and voila, a phone holder to suit IPhone 14 with case - IDs 11.5mm x 85mm. Ryan was sick of pulling his phone out from his pocket to check Trilobite. And no on airplane mode the phone doesn't affect the coil or create EMI!! 😁

What a trip back to the patch. Had a hunch about the diagonal shear through all 3 fault lines so we decided to go north of the main patch and test the theory. Went up Sunday 29th, set up camp and then started detecting Monday. The flies were fierce!! Day 1 we found a few small pieces so started gridding out. Day 2 we had 2.5 grams - okay but not paying the fuel. We continued gridding and then........ Jas hits the most concentrated patch of gold we've got on to date. Literally digging 3 targets out of one hole and whilst moving the detector out the way picking up another 5! Meanwhile I was running the grid out to try and delineate a line. I had a screamer that sounded like surface trash, gave it a small boot scrape and a 1.5-2g nugget slid out. I'm like there's no f-cking way that's gold - picked it up - yep a big flat slug of gold, barely under the surface!! Jas had gold fatigue and was whinging about the amount of admin he had to do😁(it's part of my agrrement with the Mining Co). I went over the patch with the 11" Mono coil and my 14 and pulled another 6 grams out. We figure there once was a quartz reef there that has eroded over the millions of years and the gold has dropped out as it was super prickly - straight from the vein, definitely hasn't travelled. Over the next 2.5 days we pulled 85 grams out (about 140 nuggets) - yep about $18-19k of gold pending the daily market price!!! Good Friday was a great Friday - treated to a magnificent sunset that lulled us into a false sense of security for the predicted thunderstorm scheduled to come in!!. Then it came, the lightning and thunder show - Jas "what's that noise" - that's the wind mate - you can hear it coming from miles and then bang game on!! Destructive winds, hail you name we had it. Jas lost his brand new marquee and mine was f-cked too! Amazing what a few beers and a pocket full of gold does to lighten the situation. Next morning we McGuyvered that s**t back together again but the gold gods said we'd had enough with thunderstorms on and off through Saturday and only another small 0.17g on Easter Sunday. The resident bull showed up Saturday morning for a stare down, Jas sent the drone out as he proceeded to venture over to our camp. Sunday we took some of Dads ashes out (he comes out to most of our trips) to the willow tree near the patch, Jas carved a cross in the tree, buried a bit of him there and dubbed the patch Micks Patch. Sunday we packed down, had "several" beers, watched the Rugby then went to drive up the track in to park closer to the exit for a sleep and early start. Well the main road was closed the day earlier but reopened so it never dawned on us our track would be f-cked! I got bogged, Jas recovered me, Jas nearly gets bogged but managed to reverse out. So we decided to go out the back way to North Coolgardie Rd and when we find somewhere to pull over we'll stop and sleep. This is around 11pm by now, no where to stop until about 5k's out from Coolgardie!! 2am Monday we find a park, sleep for 3 hours then all the mining LV's are hustling past so up we get and head home on the 7 hour drive!! A trip that will go down in history not only for the gold but for the straight out laughs we had out there!! Priceless

I dropped some more keyrings off to my mates and mechanics at Medicar Automotive Solutions and Jacob had an idea for another print job. The guys do a lot of 4WD adventure fitouts and wanted to take their Redarc installs to another level. Even though Redarc make a similar product you don't get branding so they kindly gave me a new Redarc BCDC Alpha 25B charger to model a slick, easy to slide on/off cover to hide the wiring connectors. Printed in RAW3D Filament ASA to handle any heatsink through the body, a simple but effective solution that will elevate the finished look. It took a few proto's to get it just right - protos in red PETG, I have excess! I'm sure they'll find another project for me.
