* Time in Queensland: 2:00 pm AEST today (Queensland does not observe daylight saving).
* What will happen: Compatible mobile phones, tablets, and some smartwatches will play a 10-second emergency siren, vibrate, and display a TEST MESSAGE stating that no action is required. The alert overrides silent mode and Do Not Disturb.
* Purpose: This is a nationwide test of Australia’s new AusAlert emergency warning system, which will be used to send urgent, location-based warnings for emergencies such as bushfires, floods, cyclones, and other life-threatening events.
* Do you need to do anything? No. If you receive the test alert, it is expected and no action is required.
