🌱 Growth doesn’t happen by sitting on the sidelines.

Last week, the KMTech team came together for Grow Through What You Go Through, led by Josh Henry, founder of The Flower Effect

The session explored navigating challenges, building resilience and finding opportunities for growth. But importantly, it got our team involved.

Through reflection, open discussion and practical activities, we explored how we navigate challenges, recognise what’s working and learn from each other’s perspectives, creating conversations around how we can continue growing together as a team.

It was a great opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, connect and learn from one another.

A huge thank you to Josh Henry for a fantastic evening! 🌱🙌

Someone at your firm uses a new AI tool today. Would you know? And if they tried to upload a client file, would anything stop it?

That’s the challenge with Shadow AI. Having an AI policy is important, but firms also need visibility into what’s actually being used and controls around where client information can go.

We’ve highlighted 3 practical controls law firms can use to strengthen oversight of AI use.

👉 Swipe through to see how they work.

There’s more to the picture. Our latest article breaks down what ongoing Shadow AI Governance can include and how the different controls work together.

🚨 A cyber attack doesn't need to bypass your security tools to become a problem. It just needs to happen when nobody is watching.

At 2:00 AM, a suspicious login triggers an alert. Your systems detect it.

But if no one investigates until the next business day, the damage may already be done.

That's why modern cybersecurity isn't just about detecting threats. It's about responding to them before they become business disruptions.

Moving to the cloud is the easy part. Keeping it secure every day is harder.

For one Melbourne wealth management firm, that meant moving beyond on-premises servers as mobility needs grew and security expectations increased.

Working with KMTech, the firm: ☁️ Moved to Microsoft Azure 🔐 Enforced MFA and Conditional Access 🛡️ Added continuous security monitoring 💾 Introduced geo-redundant cloud backups with test restores 🖥️ Retired its on-premises servers

But the real outcome was peace of mind.

As Lanteri Partner Group put it: “It is no longer something we worry about in the background; it is handled, and we can see that it is handled.”

See how they moved to the cloud without leaving security behind 👇

🚫 Banning AI is not a strategy. Neither is letting staff use whatever AI tools they like. For law firms, the challenge is defining what approved AI actually means.

Before any platform is used with client data, ask:
1️⃣Where does the data go?
2️⃣ Is it used to train the model?
3️⃣ Is there a data processing agreement in place?
4️⃣ Can data residency be confirmed?
5️⃣ Is it suitable for the legal work being performed?

The goal isn't to stop AI adoption. It's to enable it safely while protecting client confidentiality and meeting professional obligations.

✅ What Shadow AI actually looks like inside organisations today
✅ Why visibility breaks down
✅ The risks leaders are struggling to manage
✅ Practical first steps that improve governance without slowing productivity

Most cyber incidents don't happen because businesses lack security tools. They happen because the foundations weren't enforced.

Cyber resilience has shifted from installing technology to embedding accountability.
The businesses that reduce risk and recover faster typically have three things in common:

✅ Regular risk assessments that keep pace with evolving threats
✅ Clear IT-use policies that remove ambiguity around access and devices
✅ Strong user account management built on least-privilege principles

Cybersecurity is everyone's business.

While phishing, malware and unauthorised access continue to evolve, the strongest defence is still a combination of people, processes and technology working together.

The reality? Policies are what stand up when the tools go down.

Want to strengthen your organisation's cyber resilience? Read our guide on the best protection against cybersecurity threats and learn the practical steps businesses can take to reduce risk and build a stronger security posture.

Client trust is one of a law firm's most valuable assets. But trust doesn't stop at legal expertise.

It depends on secure systems, reliable access to information, and technology that works when it matters most. Law firms face unique challenges: confidential client data, strict compliance requirements, document-heavy workflows, hybrid teams, and an evolving cyber threat landscape.

When technology isn't aligned with these realities, the impact can go well beyond an IT issue. It can affect productivity, client service, risk management, and ultimately, trust.

The firms staying ahead are treating technology as a strategic business function, not just a reactive support line.
✅ Strong security ✅ Reliable systems ✅ Better productivity ✅ Reduced risk ✅ Improved client experiences

The right technology partner makes that shift possible.
