A heads-up about the upcoming AusAlert test 📢

On Monday 27 July 2026, Australia will run a national test of AusAlert, a new emergency warning system designed to share important safety information during emergencies and disasters.

The test alert will be sent to compatible mobile devices and may vibrate and play a warning sound for about 10 seconds, even if your device is on silent or "Do Not Disturb".

For people who keep a hidden phone for personal safety reasons, it's important to be aware of this test. The alert may sound on compatible devices regardless of silent settings or if "Do Not Disturb" settings are switched on. Knowing this ahead of time may help you make any arrangements needed to keep yourself safe.

If receiving the alert could put your safety at risk, the Australian Government advises that to avoid receiving the test alert you should switch the device off or put it in airplane mode before the scheduled test time. Leave the device off or in airplane mode for at least one hour after the scheduled test time.

📅 National test times — Monday 27 July 2026
• Eastern Australia (ACT, NSW, QLD, TAS and VIC): 2:00pm AEST
• Central Australia (NT and SA, including Broken Hill): 1:30pm ACST
• Western Australia: 12:00pm AWST
