It's Ekka time in Brisbane, and everybody knows that the Strawberry Sundae stand is one of the main attractions πŸ“πŸ¦What you may not know is that the strawberry sundaes are sold in support of The Common Good Au and their life-changing medical research.

Max Kelsen team members get two days of paid charity leave each year to volunteer, whether that is donating plasma for Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, slinging sundaes for medical research at the Ekka, or another cause close to their heart ❀️

A massive shout out to Daisy and Zachary for putting in a shift yesterday in support of The Common Good and medical research at The Prince Charles Hospital πŸ™Œ

Very proud to announce that Max Kelsen has been named a Google Cloud Customer Award Winner for Healthcare & Life Sciences! πŸŽ‰ This award recognises the outstanding success of our innovative SAVI product in 2021.

Our SAVI platform uses AI to identify and catalogue surgical instruments, leading to fewer cancelled surgeries, easing pressure on surgery waitlists and driving better patient safety.

SAVI has been validated as having an impressive 1 in 10,000 error rate in the real world, making it far more accurate and almost twice as fast as humans at completing the same task.

Congratulations to the entire Max Kelsen team on this incredible result, and many thanks to Google Cloud and Johnson & Johnson for their support!

Somehow amidst the chaos of 2021 coming to a close we missed announcing that we made the Financial Review Fast 100 List of fastest growing companies in Australia!

Max Kelsen was previously recognised in the 2018 AFR Fast Starters List for young companies, so it is fantastic to graduate to the 2021 AFR Fast 100 List in 77th place alongside other Australian success stories like Culture Amp, Redbubble and Airtasker.

Our thanks go out to the entire Max Kelsen team, as well as to our valued customers and partners.

Yousef, one of our amazing ML Engineers, is a big fan of solving challenges in data science via Kaggle competitions. Recently, he was part of a team that ranked in the top 1.3% worldwide using AI to detect COVID-19 from chest radiographs.

Yousef has written a comprehensive article published recently in Towards AI, full of insights into how the team approached the challenge from a technical perspective, what worked, and what didn't.
